They say three times the charm and this was the case for Jeremy when he walked through the doors of F.B.I.G. a few months ago AGAIN. After being set straight twice already, this time proved to be different. Coming through the doors on shaky legs, he was groomed and cultivated as a leader of our community. He now serves as the new Community Outreach Coordinator for F.B.I.G. and is implanting the same morals taught to him. “As I grow and climb this ladder called success, my plan is to bring as many willing to come up with me. We’re ALL getting on the road to Success!

~Jeremy Hunt

I remember being 22 and standing before the judge because I did some stupid stuff; fighting outside the club. And the judge called my name and asked me if the two men sitting behind me with their well tailored suits were my lawyers. I said “No your honor, that's my father and uncle.” And then the judge asked my father and my uncle to stand up and the judge said in all his years he's seen young men stand before him...he's seen a whole lot of mothers in the courtroom. He never saw two father figures there for one man, definitely not one black man. And then the judge, who was white, looked at the Prosecutor, who was a young black lady and said, "What can we do for this young man? I believe he made a mistake and if he doesn't know it, the men standing behind him will make sure he understands." And it was in that moment I realized why my father was so hard on me as a boy. Waking me up early, teaching me how to properly starch my shirt and crease my pants. How to wash my behind, how to shave, how to spit shine my shoes; because I don't care what nobody says that's still the best way. Spit shine those shoes every time you put them on until you see your face in them! How to wear a suit properly: two button suit, you button the top button and leave the bottom button un-buttoned so your tie can show. How to tie a necktie. I don't care if you can only afford to shop off the rack, take that suit to a tailor and have it made to fit you..and ONLY you. Because once upon a time I had a court date. And a big reason I didn't serve time is because I was dressed like I had a career. ~ Richard E. Lawrence, Young, black and married © FOREVERYOUNGBLACKANDMARRIED.COM.
