Lamar Junior High Open House 09/13/22

EEYP attended the Lamar Junior High School Open House. Pencils from our "Pushin' P" pen and pencil drive were distributed and we met with faculty, staff, parents, and students. It was a great opportunity to meet families and share our mission.

ETFort Bend County Fair Parade 09/23/22

E RBMThe EEYP took part in the 86th annual Fort Bend County Fair Day Parade for the first time ever. The theme for this year was "Generation of Champions". The youth program had a float and fantastic student volunteers that helped distribute fun goodies. We placed 3rd in the Youth Civic Category!

Willowridge High School Leadership Program 09/29/22-11/17/23

We held our second leadership program at Willowridge High School. Topics included resume and portfolio building, mock interviews, and mental health. Students received a completion certificate signed by District Attorney Brian Middleton. The program concluded with a ceremony where professionals were invited to meet with students and discus potential career paths. Some fields that professionals represented were law enforcement, military, theatre, engineering and computer science.

Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

09/30/22

The EEYP attended Judge K.P. George’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. Guest speakers included news anchor Mayra Moreno and Judge J. Christian Becerra. Honorees included Dora

Olivo, Frances Luna, Vanessa Luna, Glenda Guzman Cacal, and Carmen Pina. There was a poetry reading, a musical performance, and a presentation of proclamation.

Sartartia Middle School Healthy Refusal Skills Presentation

10/4/2022

We held a refusal skills session at Sartartia Middle School. The team met with students and taught about the importance of saying " no " to peer pressure. Students were taught different refusal strategies they could use and communication styles. EEYP hopes to visit again!

National Night Out with Rosenberg PD 10/04/22

The EEYP tabled at the Rosenberg Police Department’s National Night Out. There were several organizations meeting with Fort Bend residents that provided information of the services offered in the county. EEYP had a great time seeing new faces and spreading the mission.

Helping Hands Volunteer Opportunity 10/8/2022

Our student volunteers did a GREAT job assisting RosenbergRichmond

Helping Hands, Inc. with sorting and organizing hundreds of canned goods.

SAT Tutoring Bootcamp 10/22/2022

Expose Excellence sponsored two in-person SAT Bootcamps this semester at HCC Missouri City and the George Memorial Library. Students and parents were grateful for the free tutoring. We look forward to more sessions next fall!

Fall-Tastic Fest 10/28/2022

EEYP participated in the Fort Bend County Judge’s Fall-tastic Fest by creating a candy-corn-hole game and giving out candy to students. The top prize was a coupon for Italian ice!

Trunk or Treat 10/28/2022

Rain didn’t stop our Halloween fun! EEYP hosted an awesome Trunk or Treat with our community partners to provide a safe environment for youth interaction. We had over 500 attendees! Thank you to our volunteers and partner organizations for making our event a success.

Lake Olympia Middle School Career Fair

11/9/2022

Exposed Excellence Youth Program joined the Fort Bend District Attorney's Office to attend Lake Olympia Middle School's annual Career Fair. We spoke to students about our youth program, the different opportunities we provide, and the many ways they can get involved. Thank you Lake Olympia Middle School for the great opportunity!

Willowridge High School Community Meeting and Anti-Truancy Night

We attended Willowridge High School's Anti-Truancy night alongside Fort Bend County Judge and Willowridge alumni Judge Tyra McCollum. We got to present our youth program to the families and learned how we can help prevent excess absences and encourage students as an on campus enrichment program.

"Wakanda Forever"

Movie Matinee

11/12/2022

EEYP hosted a private screening of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. 80 lucky students and their families go the opportunity to be one of the first to get to watch this new film. The Black Panther movies are a great representation for diversity and STEM.

NAACP Community Showcase

11/19/2022

The Missouri City Vicinity Branch of the NAACP hosted a community showcase competition where local business owners and organizations shared information about their services with a 1-minute time limit. EEYP Coordinator Raven won 2nd place!

Christmas Cheers Prep 11/21/22

The EEYP had student volunteers to help with Christmas Cheers. The students wrote thank you cards, created decorations for the event, and made videos for the auction. Thank you to our student volunteers!

Juvenile Justice Advisory Council Meeting

Expose Excellence has committed to join Fort Bend Sheriffs Office's JJAC to help create working relationships between youth, law enforcement, and the community. It is always great to see such supportive parents and youth at the monthly meetings.

Christmas Gifts

The EEYP team attended Moms Demand Action's monthly meeting where they wrapped gifts for our students. Thank you to Moms Demand Action for donating gifts to our youth program!

Christmas Cheers

ReCap!

The Expose Excellence Youth Foundation hosted a Christmas Cheers Holiday Fundraising Dinner on December 16th, 2022 in the Magnolia Room at Safari Texas Ranch. Emceed by Kim Milstead, wife of foundation board member Dr. Milstead, the goal of the fundraiser was to raise money to support the Foundation’s community outreach efforts to engage Fort Bend youth.

Community leaders, such as Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton, State Representative Ron Reynolds, Judge Toni Wallace, Judge-elect Tyra McCollum, Judge-elect Chad Bridges, and Associate Judge Lewis White, were in attendance at the holiday dinner. Guests enjoyed music by DJ F.K. Clark.

Judge Lewis White pledged $30,000 towards a college scholarship fund. The Christmas Cheers fundraiser raised over $70,000 for the Expose Excellence Youth Foundation.
