PHILIP MOORE former faculty
Besides his family, Larry’s loves included his church, the Universalist Church of Rockland, bird watching, canoeing, hiking, gardening, travel, and watching the New England Patriots. Some of his fondest memories were numerous canoe trips with his wife on the lakes, streams, and rivers of Midcoast Maine, his bird watching trips to Hog Island in Muscongus Bay, his home and gardens in North Waldoboro, and his reconnections with students he taught and helped develop over four decades of teaching in New England.
Philip H. Moore, 75, passed away at his home in Dartmouth, Mass., on July 18, 2011. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Wilson) Moore. Mr. Moore was born in Washington, D.C., son of the late Elwood and Celia (Smith) Moore, and resided in Dartmouth since 1981. He was Assistant Headmaster at the Bement School, Athletic Director at Fay, and recently taught in the Dartmouth school system and St. Francis School in Acushnet. He was a member of the Barney's Joy Beach Club and the Bike Club of America. He was a beloved husband, father and teacher. In addition to his widow, he is survived by his children: David Anson Moore and his wife, Kerry of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Emily Moore Fralick and her husband, Thom of Tacoma, Calif.; his grandchildren: Sidney Moore, David A. Moore, Jr., Oliver Fralick and Finn Fralick; and several nieces & nephews.
LAWRENCE “LARRY” MURPHY former faculty Lawrence Perry Murphy, 83, passed away in his sleep Sept. 5, 2011, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. Born in Utica, N.Y., on Jan. 18, 1928, Larry was the third child of Edward and Margaret Murphy. Larry attended Brown University and graduated from the University of Connecticut. He spent many summers throughout his college and early adult life as a camp counselor at Medomak Camp in Washington. A career educator in English and English literature, Larry also coached football and tennis and was an athletics director and dramatics coach, teaching at Fay, Moses Brown School, and

Larry leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Jean Smith Murphy; a son, Marshall Murphy; a daughter, Pamela Wallace; four grandchildren, Leslie and Elise Wallace and Emma and Elliott Murphy; and five nieces and nephews.
