Relazione del Presidente

Cari Soci e Amici

È con grande piacere che il Veneto Club vi presenta la sua rivista annuale – quest'anno per un periodo prolungato fino a Settembre 2022. Abbiamo fatto il cambiamento in via eccezionale, per questa e per la prossima annualità in modo da far coincidere la prossima edizione, quella del 2023, con il 50° anniversario dell'apertura del Club.

Il nostro Club ha avuto molti alti e bassi nell'ultimo mezzo secolo ma nessun periodo è stato più impegnativo come quello che abbiamo affrontato a causa del Covid negli ultimi due anni. Sebbene stiamo iniziando a ritornare alla normale operatività, ci sono rimaste molte cicatrici dovute alla pandemia, dalle quali stiamo cercando, ulteriormente, di riprenderci – tra le più impattanti, la perdita sostanziale della fine dello scorso anno finanziario, il significativo stop temporaneo ai nostri piani di rinnovamento della Sala Venezia e le carenze di personale che il nostro team deve affrontare mese dopo mese per cercare di far fronte alle necessità operative della nostra ampia offerta servizi.

Inoltre, in aggiunta alle criticità sopra indicate, siamo anche fortemente concentrati sulle trattative con il North East Link Authority, per cercare di ottenere il miglior risultato possibile per il Veneto Club.

Quindi dobbiamo tutti guardare avanti e pensare positivamente al 2023 e ai prossimi anni che ci aspettano.

Le nostre strutture sportive sono tra le migliori di Melbourne e le nostre squadre che rappresentano il calcio, lo squash, il tennis e le bocce sono competitive e hanno un discreto successo. Continueremo a investire nel miglioramento della nostra infrastruttura sportiva per garantire che tutte le nostre offerte siano attraenti per i potenziali nuovi soci e per aumentare ancora di più la partecipazione a tutti gli sport.

Finanziariamente ci stiamo riprendendo, questo grazie a voi, nostri soci e simpatizzanti comunitari che scelgono il nostro Club, che degustano il nostro ottimo cibo nel bistro, che partecipano ai nostri numerosi eventi di intrattenimento e culturali e che ci sostengono ulteriormente anche acquistando i nostri prodotti tipici al VCDELI che si sta rivelando, anno dopo anno, un grande successo. È con piacere che posso farvi partecipi del fatto che la nostra banca, la ANZ, ha molta fiducia in noi e continuerà a sostenerci.

Siamo quindi in una buona posizione, dato che a breve rilanceremo i nostri piani per la ristrutturazione della Sala Venezia. Ma prima di iniziare vogliamo rivedere alcuni dettagli con i costruttori, poiché vogliamo assicurarci il miglior risultato possibile in modo da essere competitivi e attraenti, per eventi e attività, non solo per la comunità veneta ma anche per il settore del business aziendale commerciale.

Abbiamo buone prospettive e molti cambiamenti in serbo per i prossimi due anni e mi auguro che anche voi siate entusiasti come lo sono io. Tuttavia, parallelamente a queste migliorie, ci saranno probabilmente delle interruzioni nell'accesso alla struttura così come nelle disponibilità di alcuni servizi. Quindi, per favore, cercate di essere comprensivi e solidali nei confronti del nostro personale che cercherà tuttavia, come sempre, di soddisfare le vostre esigenze e di venirvi incontro il più possibile. State certi che il nostro Club sarà sempre aperto per voi.

Infine, vorrei riconoscere e ringraziare tutte le persone che rendono il nostro Club un successo. Il mio Comitato, il nostro Direttore Generale, Joe Morello e tutto il suo Staff, i nostri Volontari, i nostri Sottocomitati sportivi e il nostro Coro, nonché i tutte le Associazioni storiche, a sfondo provinciale e non solo, che contribuiscono alle attività e ai risultati del Club.

Ringrazio anche voi soci, i vostri amici e tutti gli ospiti che frequentano il Club per eventi ristorativi, sportivi o culturali e che lo rendono quello che è ancor oggi, a 49 anni dalla sua apertura, una realtà fiorente, prospera e vigorosa. Grazie!

It is with great pleasure that the Veneto Club presents its annual magazine – this year for an extended period through to October 2022. We have made the change for this year, and for next year so that we coincide the next edition for 2023 with the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Club.

Our Club has had many ups and downs over the last half a century, none more challenging than the impact of Covid over the last couple of years. Whilst it's great that we are now starting to get back into normal operations, we have been left with many Covid scars, that we are trying to recover from - beit the substantial loss at the end of last financial year, the significant pause put on our plans to renovate the Sala Venezia, and the staffing deficiencies our operations team face month after month trying to fill roles in the hospitality field.

In addition to these challenges we are also heavily focused on negotiations with the North East Link Authority to get the best possible outcome for the Veneto Club.

So we all must look forward and think positively towards 2023 and the next few years to come.

Our sporting facilities are some of the best you will find in Melbourne, and our teams representing football, squash, tennis and bocce are competitive and relatively successful. We will continue to invest in improvements to our sporting infrastructure to ensure that all our facilities are modern and attractive to prospective new members to increase participation in all sports even more.

Our financial position is recovering steadily, that’s thanks to you, our members and the community patrons who come to our club, eat our great food in the bistro, attend our many entertainment and cultural events and further support our club by making purchases at our very successful VCDELI. It's good to know that our bank, the ANZ, has confidence in our financial viability and will continue to support us.

This is a good position to be in, as we will now resurrect our plans for the Sala Venezia refurbishment. But before we start, we will need to review our plans with the builders as we want to make sure that the vision for the renovations will put us in a competitive position for events and functions that are attractive not only to the Veneto community but for corporate functions as well.

We have many good changes to look forward to in the next couple of years and I hope you are as excited as I am about these. Whilst these changes are being made there will probably be disruptions to access and availability to some of our facilities. So please be understanding of this, and our operations team will try to accommodate your needs as much as possible. But rest assured that our Club will always be open for you.

Finally, I would like to recognise and thank all the people that make our Club a success. My committee, our General Manager, Joe Morello and all his staff, our volunteers, our sporting sub-committees and our choir as well as our cultural sub-committees that contribute to the club’s activities and achievements.

I would also like to thank you our members, your friends and guests that attend the club for dining, sports or cultural events that make our Club what it is today, 49 years after its opening and still thriving. Thank you!
