izuly Monarrez grew up in a quintessential ‘I love my Mary Kay’ family.

“I was 1 year old when my mom, Independent National Sales Director María Monarrez, began her Mary Kay business. She’s been in love with it for more than 29 years. My mom has pictures of me when I was two and was in Dallas with her the week of Seminar. She dropped me off and picked me up from school and proms in a pink Cadillac.” But growing up, being a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant was the last thing on Lizuly’s mind. “Did I always have the desire to start my own Mary Kay business? No. I grew up thinking Mary Kay was only for older people! It wasn’t until I attended Career Conference with my mom as a guest that I caught the bigger vision. Then, it was game on!”

CAREER CONFERENCE: A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE! Lizuly attended her first Career Conference in March 2011 in Denver, Colo. “I walked in thinking, I am not too excited about this and don’t really want to be here. This will probably be boring.” Little did Lizuly realize how it would all come together. Career Conference was going to be the turning point in her life. “The minute I walked in, I was in awe of all the beautiful, happy and successful women everywhere! The atmosphere was so energetic. I saw women of all ages, but I especially noticed girls my age. Young, some still in college, yet they looked beautiful in their red jackets. Then the thought crept in, Why am I not doing this?” A conversation with Independent Senior National Sales Director Lisa Madson made a powerful impression on Lizuly. “Lisa asked me what I was studying and which college I attended. She then winked at me saying, ‘You’d make a beautiful Sales Director.’ I submitted my Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement just two weeks later. I also started DIQ in a couple of weeks.”

THE FLEXIBILITY AND FULFILLMENT Today, Lizuly is happy and convinced that she made the right decision. “Because of the Mary Kay opportunity, I’m able to stay at home with my twin daughters, Valentina and Victoria. I promised myself I would bring them home from the hospital in a pink Cadillac. Although I hadn’t earned the use of one yet, they rode home in the pink Escalade their grandma or Mami Gina drives! A year later, I now drop them off and pick them up from daycare in a brand-new pink Cadillac XT6. Now, it most certainly is the one that I earned the use of, and it makes me so proud.”
