Bergen’s Laksevåg waterfront masterplanning competition

Sector: Master Planning

RIBA Stages 1

Bergen Municipality brief to restore and redevelop the former shipbuilding site overlooking the Puddefjorden. The aim is transforming the shipyard into a creative and manufacturing centre of marine industry for the 21st century.

My role was developement of sections and solar study as well as post editing of renders.

THE BLIND SPOT

The anti-surveillance monastery located in the mountains of China in the eerie Fengdu ghost city is a retreat/sanctuary where you can escape the pressures of a surveillant society. It is temporary living off the grid and houses sleeping chambers, meditation rooms, learning centres, etc. It’s design is influenced by Buddhist monasteries and made entirely of Mesh the sanctuary shows the paradox of complete transparency whilst shielding from the outside world.

THE VENDING MACHINE MUSEUM

Vending machines are one of today’s most ‘uncollected collectables’. Although there are vintage vending machines in the UK up for public view, such as in the London Transport Museum and the Science Museum, there are no spaces designed or dedicated to their preservation.

The National vending machine- The Museum of the future in Holland, although impressive, is dedicated to selling historical objects within a transportable vending machine type building. It is not a museum that showcases all the amazing vintage vending machines.

Old vending machines have a story and character that need to be beautifully displayed. Additionally the odd and rare vending machines that pop up, even to this day, in particular in Japan are not able to be appreciated by the masses.

The Vending Machine museum in London will be spaces specifically designed for these intricate machines.
