Who would have thought?

When Foxlake Adventures, our partner in Scotland, first approached us in 2017 with the idea of developing a floating climbing park, we were immediately inspired. At that time, Foxlake had already been successfully operating a similar facility, called FoxFall, for four years. However, their original design for a ropes course above water was permanently installed on the bed of a small lake, making it unsuitable for locations where the water level fluctuates. So we got to work. Now, we’re proud to say that we met the challenge: Aqua Chimp can float!

Our mission is clear: With Aqua Chimp we want to deliver the unique feeling of climbing above the water, without a climbing harness, to as many places around the world as we possibly can. We want to excite people and enrich their free time with an entirely new adventure experience. It also means a lot to us that the good people at Foxlake put their trust in us, and became first customer of our floating ropes course as soon as it was production-ready.

The introduction of Aqua Chimp breaks open an entirely new market. We’re excited what the future has in store – for us, and for you.

CLIMBING WITHOUT A HARNESS

A unique adventure above the water

In an Aqua Chimp climbing park, you can challenge your endurance, balance and willpower. Try out the blue, red and black climbing features, each with its own difficulty rating. All of this takes place in a safe, user-friendly environment – helping to make the most of that valuable free time.

Imagine stepping into the ropes course. At first, you feel a healthy amount of respect for the challenge ahead – the thrill factor is definitely there. However, you master your fear and begin climbing from feature to feature. Your confidence grows and the feeling of accomplishment builds with each challenge mastered. And when you finally lose your grip … no worries, you simply fall into the water. That’s just another part of the fun!

The Aqua Chimp ropes course consists of a solid steel framework with connections both above and below the water, as well as large floats made of durable HDPE plastic. In between the individual steel uprights –called Poles – the modular climbing features are installed.

The entire structure is protected against wind and water currents by an ingenious yet simple technique. Aqua Chimp is anchored to weights on the lake bed by inconspicuous underwater chains. These hold it securely in position, while automatically adjusting to fluctuations in the water level.

The structural stability of Aqua Chimp has been refined down the last detail and is approved by TÜV Thüringen.

The basic framework of 6-meter squares enables individualized design concepts and modular expandability. There are no limits to creativity in course design.

Thanksto the sophisticated Aqua Chimp Poles, the park floats independently and can be used in a wide variety of locations.

The biggest advantage of this floating system is easy to see: Aqua Chimp can be installed in deep or shallow water. Thus, our parks offer maximum flexibility and a broad range of use.

During the technical development of Aqua Chimp, one topic was of special importance: safety. The climbing park can withstand waves of up to a meter in height with ease.

FLYING ZIPLINE WITH MECHANICAL RETRIEVAL MECHANISM

What fun! The Aqua Chimp Zipline offers climbers the enjoyment of a 24- or 30meter long zipline, which ends with a satisfying splash into the cool water below.

The cherry on top: After each ride, our sophisticated zipline technology returns the trolley back to the starting point by itself. With its specially configured mechanical spring drum, the trolley return system doesn’t require an external energy supply.

The zipline is mounted on two dedicated Aqua Chimp Poles, which are securely fixed to the main course. Like the rest of Aqua Chimp, the whole construction floats, and the entire line is suspended safely above the water. You’ve never seen a zipline like this before.

ENTRIES, EXITS & MORE

Entry features such as stairs allow climbers to quickly access the course either directly from the water or via a floating platform. Exit features such as the Rope Swing or our diving board – the Monkey Plank – promise an action-packed jump at the end. To make maintenance and expansion of the park easy, we’ve also developed a maintenance and assembly raft that’s custom-built to service Aqua Chimp – because the devil’s in the details.

Aqua Chimp comes in large and small sizes, in symmetrical form or customized shapes for maximally creative climbing routes.

This is made possible by our standardized and modular 6-meter square building blocks. Parks can be enlarged with expansions at any time – if the operating concept needs to be adapted to different customer groups, for example. On top of that, ziplines, new features or additional entry and exit options can easily change the appearance of the park, adding additional value.
