Prof. Dr. Birna Bjarnason-Wehrens is associated professor, at the Institute for Cardiology and Sports Medicine, German Sport University in Cologne. Her scientific focus is related to physical activity and exercise in the prevention, secondary prevention and rehabilitation of various cardiovascular diseases. She has contributed to numerous guidelines and portion papers published by the German and European professional societies. In her presentation, she will present actual knowlege and evidence on effectiveness and safety of resistance training in patients with cardiac diseases.

Resistance training in patients with metabolic diseases with special reference to diabetes mellitus - evidence, recommendations and implementation
Dr. Arto Hautala works as associate professor of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in the University of Jyväskylä Finland. He represents the head of academic discipline of physiotherapy in Finland and is the director of Physiotherapy Team. Dr. Hautala serves as a chair in the working group planning Finnish Current Care guideline for exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation and he is an expert appointed by the Finnish Medical Society Duodecim for the Finnish guideline of exercise as medicine. In his presentation he will focus especially the effectiveness of resistance training in patients with metabolic diseases.

Prof. Dr. Klara Brixius is working at the Institute for Cardiology and Sports Medicine German Sport University in Cologne. Her scientific focus is related to age-dependent (patho-)physiological alterations in the elderly. In her talk she will present results obtained in collaboration with local community-dwelling sports clubs and will give a perspective for digital interventions for sarcopenia prevention.

Implementation of effective balance training in the elderly and patients with cardiovascular and metabolic diseases
M.Sc. Anssi Lipsonen has worked in the HUR group of companies since 2005. He has been deeply involved in developing the SmartBalance product since the beginning in close co-operation with universities and research institutes such as Jyväskylä University, Helsinki University and Chydenius Institute in Kokkola. Anssi has spoken in international conferences around the world about practical evaluation and training of balance in seniors which will be his topic also in this seminar.
Children and adolescents with cerebral palsy – the effects of balance training interventions and some other active interventions on postural control and gait
Bjorg Gudjonsdottir is assistant professor at the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Iceland. Her scientific focus is related to pediatric physical therapy. In her talk she will present the latest evidence of the effects of balance training interventions and some other active interventions on postural control and gait in children and adolescents with cerebral palsy.
