Faryt Kalhil
Faryt Kalhil began his aviation career in 1985 as a mechanic at AeroThrust Corporation. Starting in a technical role, he expanded his capabilities early on by earning certifications in machinist work, welding inspection, plasma spraying, electroplating, and non-destructive testing. These foundational skills gave him deep knowledge of engine systems and operations, which served him throughout his professional life. His interest in continuous improvement led him to further develop his qualifications. He earned his FAA certification as a Powerplant Mechanic and became an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor. He also added expertise in quality management, auditing, and executive coaching. At every step, his focus was on building not only his capabilities but also encouraging those around him to grow with him. Over time, his work at AeroThrust evolved beyond technical tasks into leadership roles that required balancing engineering insight with operational responsibility. He played a major role in introducing structured systems for improving performance and strengthening supplier relationships. He was involved in rolling out initiatives such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing (LFS), World Class Manufacturing (WCM), and ISO 9000, helping to enhance efficiency across the organization. In 2001, Faryt transitioned into executive leadership, first as Vice President of Quality and later as President. He stepped into this top role just after the events of 9/11, a difficult moment for the aviation industry. Despite the challenges, he guided the company through a successful transformation. Revenue grew from $32 million to more than $107 million. He introduced new programs like the CFM56 engine line, secured over $190 million in additional business, and reduced operational cycle times by 60%. More than just numbers, he focused on reshaping the organization’s culture into one that valued performance and resilience.
