Faryt Kalhil’s aviation career began in 1985 as a mechanic in the trenches of AeroThrust Corporation Within his first few years, he had cross-trained and became certified in machinist, welding inspection, plasma spraying, electroplating, and non-destructive testing.
His pursuit of excellence didn’t stop there. Faryt would later obtain FAA certification as a Powerplant Mechanic, become an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor, and
qualify as a quality management, auditing, and executive coach. Each promotion was less about the title and more about raising those who worked around him.
Career at AeroThrust
Kalhil’s later positions at AeroThrust required him to combine technical knowledge with management roles. He introduced formal performance improvement systems and supplier development initiatives, while improving internal operations through the successful implementation of multiple high-performance systems, such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Lean Manufacturing (LFS), World Class Manufacturing (WCM), and ISO 9000
By 2001, Faryt had graduated from technical leadership to strategic oversight. He became Vice President of Quality and later the President, immediately after 9/11.
But through the turmoil, Faryt engineered a rapid turnaround: Revenues tripled from $32 million to over $107 million, introduced new engine programs like the CFM56, the company gained over $190 million in new business, operational cycle times were slashed by 60%, and most importantly, he transformed the company’s entire culture.
Launching and Scaling His Own Companies
After two decades with AeroThrust, Faryt ventured into entrepreneurship In 2011, he acquired Millennium Engine Associates and launched Global Engine Maintenance (GEM). He scaled the company from $1.2 million in annual revenue to $12 5 million within two years, achieving exponential growth by 2019
During that transformation, Faryt relocated GEM to a state-of-the-art facility in Doral, Florida, and built its core expertise around the CFM56 engine platform GEM quickly became a global giant known for its focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
