A Fresh Start with New Flavors

The last three months have flown by, and the re-opening of The Grill is finally here! While much-needed improvements have been made to the kitchen—new equipment, epoxy flooring, and a state-of-the-art Marra Forni rotating pizza oven—we’re just as excited about the changes that extend beyond the back of the house.

Our Food and Beverage team has been working closely with the Communications Department to give The Grill menu a fresh new look with some exciting additions. One of the most significant updates is the introduction of a Plant-Based section to both our lunch and dinner menus. With the growing number of vegan members and increased demand for meat- and dairy-free options, we wanted to create a dedicated space that makes ordering easier. All items in this section are dairy-free and Alpha Gal-friendly.

Another highly requested addition is a dedicated pasta section on the dinner menu, featuring seasonal dishes that highlight our love and respect for classic Italian cuisine. These dishes have always been popular as weekly specials, and now they’ll have a wellearned spot on the regular menu.

For sandwich lovers, we’re bringing back Pannouzi—fresh-baked, Italian-inspired sandwiches that will now be made in our brand-new rotating deck pizza oven. Speaking of pizza, we’ve spent the winter refining our techniques and sourcing some of the best ingredients in the world to take this menu section to the next level. Highlights include fresh, imported Buffalo Milk Mozzarella for our Margherita Pizza and rich Fiore di Latte for our Neapolitan classics.

Even our bread service has gotten an upgrade! We’re excited to introduce a new bread selection at lunch and house-made Parker House rolls at dinner, crafted by our talented pastry team.

And for those craving something new, be on the lookout for exciting new sandwich and smash burger concepts coming to both the lunch and dinner menus.

Premium Ingredients, Better Dining

Our commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients doesn’t stop at pizza. After extensive research and tastings, we’ve made some exciting upgrades across the board. We’re proud to introduce Loch Duart Salmon from Scotland, a premium farm-raised salmon known for its natural diet and superior quality. This will now be the standard not just at The Grill, but for all of our Special Events as well.

For steak lovers, we’ve upgraded the cut of beef used for salads and specials. While tri-tip has been a staple, we’ve found that it can be inconsistent in tenderness. Moving forward, we’ll be serving Prime Creekstone Farms Bistro Filet, a more flavorful and consistently tender cut that we know our members will love.

Another big change? Our cooking oil. With more members embracing less inflammatory diets, we’ve re-evaluated the oils used in the kitchen. After extensive research, we’ve switched to Pomace Oil, a heart-healthy alternative that’s high in monounsaturated fats, antioxidants, and bioactive compounds. This simple swap will have a big impact across all of our menus.

The Plant-Based section will also feature a new plant-based burger made with Havredals meat alternative. This Swedish innovation was first prepared in the U.S. right here at Farmington, but that’s not why we’re excited about it. Unlike many other plant-based proteins, Havredals is free from soy, gluten, and dairy, using simple ingredients like pea protein, fava bean protein, gluten-free oats, and potato protein. It’s a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable option for those looking to go meat-free.

A Thank You to Our Members

Every change we’ve made—whether it’s a new menu section, a better cut of beef, or an upgraded cooking oil—comes from listening to your feedback. We’ve spent countless hours researching, testing, and refining, all with the goal of making The Grill even better for our members. And now, it’s finally time for you to experience it for yourself. On behalf of the entire Food and Beverage team, thank you for your patience, support, and trust throughout this process. We can’t wait to welcome you back and share everything we’ve been working on.

Welcome to our Newest Resident Members

Joseph and Lydia Smith

Welcome Joe and Lydia Smith, with sons Henry (3) and Beau (1). The Smith Family recently relocated from London, England and chose Charlottesville as the ideal community for their new chapter. Joining Farmington quickly became a logical next step as Lydia’s brother, James Reynolds, had previously introduced them to the Club as a National member, and numerous new friends also espoused the virtues of Farmington. The Smith Family will enjoy nearly every facet of the Club, but will take specific interest in youth activities and sports camps for the boys, golf for Joe, and tennis, fitness and the FHSF for Lydia. They also look forward to many holiday celebrations at Farmington over the coming years. The Smith family was proposed by Troy and Abby Zieman, and seconded by Eric and Alexandra Wolfe and Peter and Allison de Boer.

Happometer Surveys

Farmington Fitness is pleased to introduce Happometer surveys to gather valuable member feedback. Many areas of the Club already use this quick and userfriendly survey tool, and now fitness participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences as well.

After attending a Farmington Fitness class or activity, you may receive a brief post-event survey via email. These surveys take about a minute to complete and offer an easy way to provide feedback, recognize outstanding staff, and help us enhance our programs and tailor offerings to better serve our members.

HEALTH

New Massage Offering

Farmington is pleased to offer Thai Foot Reflexology with therapist Anique Lubov. Thai Foot Reflexology is not just a foot rub; it is a form of light acupressure that affects the entire body, providing a pleasant and energizing massage of the feet and lower legs. This treatment focuses on the feet and legs to leave you feeling grounded and relaxed. It is a relaxing and natural way to promote optimal health including improved circulation, stimulation of the lymphatic system, and enhanced overall well-being. Drawing from traditional Thai massage, this session involves a combination of deep compressions, sen line work (Thai energy meridians), and targeted work in tight areas of the legs and feet and experience positive effects throughout the body.

There are over 7,200 sensory nerve endings in each foot, which are connected to the internal organs of the body. By stimulating these nerve endings, Thai foot reflexology aims to detoxify and purify the body, helping to relieve stress and tension, decrease fatigue, and restore balance.

Please call the Fitness Center at (434) 245-0690 to reserve a session.
