PEDIATRIC CLINIC : SENEGAL
Project: Pediatric clinic

Location: Keur Bakar
This project, undertaken as part of the Architecture for Humanity course, focused on extensive research in the realm of off-grid architecture production. The aim was to develop architectural structures that could be situated, assembled, and adapted in diverse contexts, including extreme environments, to establish emergency or service facilities with elevated aesthetic and perceived value. In response to the urgent demand for healthcare infrastructure in remote regions, our team embarked on a transformative endeavor to conceive a sustainable pediatric clinic for a small village in Senegal.
Our primary objective was to design a facility that not only fulfilled the healthcare requirements of the local community and nearby villages but also seamlessly integrated with the surrounding landscape. Emphasizing resilience against climate change and adhering to sustainable design principles, we sought to create a structure that harmonized with its environment. The village of Keur Bakar, situated in the southwestern region of Senegal, presented unique challenges due to its isolation and susceptibility to climate change impacts, such as extreme heat, resource scarcity, and occasional flooding.
By drawing inspiration from Senegal’s rich cultural heritage and vernacular architecture, we devised a concept that aimed to safeguard and fortify the community of Keur Bakar and neighboring villages against the effects of climate change. Our endeavor encompassed ensuring access to reliable healthcare facilities while concurrently preserving nature and imparting knowledge on climate change, sustainable design, and the incorporation of both contemporary and traditional building techniques in our architectural solutions.

FURNITURE
Furniture plays a significant role in our design process. Given the limited resources and remote location, we aimed to create furniture that is adaptable and versatile, tailored to suit the function and spatial requirements of each room. Our shelving systems are designed to be straightforward and effortless to assemble, utilizing recycled materials readily available in Senegal.

Furthermore, our design philosophy places great importance on outdoor furnishings. Our primary objective is to provide various forms of protection, whether it involves safeguarding trees from deforestation and desertification or creating a safe environment for children to heal. Similar to our shelving systems, our benches are designed to be versatile, movable, collapsible, and easily transportable. Constructed from recycled cardboard, these benches serve as a testament to our deep appreciation for nature and convey the impact of climate change on humanity.

CONNECTIVITY : URBAN VOID

Project: Urban Complex

Location: Sheikh Zayed Rd - Dubai - UAE
This carefully designed building complex aims to facilitate connections among individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of inclusivity and providing an engaging environment for people of all ages to relish. This objective is successfully realized through the incorporation of a captivating central garden space adorned with a captivating water feature and verdant landscaping, creating an inviting ambiance that attracts and enthralls visitors.
The project’s focal point is the elevated green ramp, which serves as a prominent feature and offers openings and circular waterfalls for the enjoyment of the public. Furthermore, meticulous attention has been given to the composition of the buildings, ensuring the provision of privacy for the residential units located at the rear, while simultaneously facilitating convenient public access to the main road-facing public building.

SILAH : INNOVATION HUBCO-WORKINGING SPACE

Project: Innovation hub / Co-working space
Location: Al Suq Road - Dubai - UAE
The architectural design of the building incorporates dedicated co-working spaces, with each building serving a distinct purpose and featuring an open-floor plan layout for collaborative office environments. Sequentially arranged from right to left, the buildings encompass the fashion and beauty wing, arts and architecture section, technology/gaming and app development division, and the business and research facility. Despite being an office complex, the ground level of the building offers a variety of versatile open spaces that can accommodate various functions and events. One such space could be utilized as an outdoor runway, a showcase area, or an event venue. This provision allows fashion and beautyrelated entities, including fashion products, garments, and fashion magazines, to have designated areas for presenting their work. Moreover, the ground floor houses several retail stores, a cafeteria, a cafe, and prayer rooms. These amenities contribute to a comprehensive and well-rounded experience for the occupants and visitors of the building.
