The Blue Wailers are a traditional 6-member blues group based in Minnesota. They know that the blues are about feeling good.

The six-piece band has years of playing experience. Randy Schrenk plays slide guitar and sings lead vocals and harmonies. Marty Olson growls out lead vocals and improvises some great lead guitar.

Bob Waters stirs the audience with soulful blues harp. Kari Steen fills out the sound with awesome keys. No band can be great without a powerful rhythm section, as drummer Mike Carbone and bassist Tim Jorgensen fill the bill.

At just 17-years-old, Vella is already making waves on the internet and is positioning herself to be a household name.

Featuring a dynamic voice that can go from a roaring belt to a sweet and soothing falsetto in a matter of seconds, Hailing from Tampa, FL, Vella is all things rock & roll, blues, and soul. She describes herself as the love child of Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin, and after one listen, it is easy to hear why. Being authentically true to herself, Vella empowers listeners with her booming vocals and truthful grittiness.

MISSISSIPPI HEAT 5:00PM Led by harmonica master and songwriter Pierre Lacocque, Mississippi Heat is a world-class Chicago Blues Band. Their motto is “Traditional Blues with A Unique Sound” as they present fresh yet vintage-based musical ideas.

MISSISSIPPI HEAT’s name is a reflection of Pierre’s reverence for Mississippi’s blues culture and music. The band’s conviction is that there is no deeper music than Delta-inspired blues to express what lies in everyone’s soul.

Buddy Guy has gone on record saying that it’s “been a long time since I heard a good blues band like this.”

Born and raised in St. Louis, Jeremiah Johnson is the voice of Mississippi River blues blending with the struggles of everyday life. He began learning guitar at age 6, drawing inspiration from his rich St. Louis blues heritage and legendary guitarists, like Alvin Lee, Eric Clapton and Hank Williams Sr. and Jr. With these influences, Johnson began building his musical foundation.

After relocating to Houston, TX, in 1999, Johnson finished in first place for three consecutive years at the Houston Regional Blues Challenges, sponsored by the Houston Blues Society. Johnson returned to St. Louis in 2009, and merged Texas style with STL blues to create the unique sound you hear today. The 10 years Johnson lived and performed in Texas changed his musical style in ways you can still hear in his music today. In September 2014, Johnson filmed his docu-concert, Ride the Blues, directed by Australian Producer/Director Gary Glenn, at the historic Capitol Theater in downtown Burlington, IA. The film is live music video about Johnson’s rise to prominence, featuring intimate interview segments, still photography, guitar solos and stunning m vocals. Donations from concert attendees were generously given to the theater and to the National Blues Museum, connecting Johnson’s roles of musician and music advocate. In 2014, Johnson records Grind, produced by Devon Allman, features Grammy award winner Yonrico Scott on drums and reached the #8 slot on the Billboard Blues Charts the week of November 7th, 2015.

Johnson follows the success of Grind with a self-produced release, Blues Heart Attack, released worldwide on July 22, 2016. Special guest performers include Tom ‘Papa’ Ray on harmonica, and Nathan Hershey on keys. Blues Heart Attack reached #5 on the Billboard Blues Charts following its release in 2016.

After signing a record deal with Ruf Records in March of 2018, Jeremiah immediately went to Texas to record his debut Ruf Records release, Straitjacket, with BMA award winning Mike Zito producing. Straitjacket debuted #1 on iTunes New Blues Releases and #6 on Billboard Blues Album Chart and has been in the top of the Roots Music Report ever since.

Johnson released, "Heavens to Betsy", his 2nd Ruf Records Release on February 14th, 2020. Johnson started out 2020 touring with the Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2020 and separately with his band though out 2020. Then the Covid-19 Pandemic shut down the industry worldwide.

“Heavens to Betsy”, debuted at #3 on the Billboard Blues Album charts and soon climbed to the coveted #1 spot by April 11th. Johnson was set to have a breakout year before everything came to a crashing halt. Quarantined at home for months, Johnson decided it was time to get creative. “Being forced into unemployment has been beyond frustrating. I decided to produce an album of songs inspired by the “Covid-19 Pandemic” and try to turn the roller coaster of emotions into something musical. Released on 10/30/2020, “Unemployed Highly Annoyed” hit #4 on the Billboard Blues Album Charts on 11/14/2020.

Jeremiah Johnson blends the sounds of the south, with Mississippi River blues and a touch of country flair. Emotionally charged southern blues rock, powered by the common man’s passion for life and all the struggles in-between.

FRIDAY, JULY 30th SAMANTHA FISH 9:00PM Samantha Fish grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and started out playing the drums, but when she was 15 she switched to guitar.

Her mother was the instructor in a local church choir and her father played guitar with friends. Initially hearing recordings of Bonnie Raitt and Stevie Ray Vaughan, she later heard music from Tom Petty and The Rolling Stones and cites the Stones' album Sticky Fingers as an influential moment. Samantha and her sister were both drawn towards blues music in their teenage years.

In 2009, she recorded and produced ‘Live Bait’. The live album attracted the attention of a talent company, who recommended her to Ruf Records. Ruf Records put together a record with Fish and two other female blues artists, Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde, titled Girls with Guitars. The three guitarists then toured on the Ruf Records 2011 Blues Caravan in the U.S. and Europe.

Fish appeared on Devon Allman's 2013 album ‘Turquoise’ in a duet covering the Tom Petty/Stevie Nicks' song "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around". During the summer of 2013, Fish was called up on stage to play with Buddy Guy, who was so impressed with her playing on the guitar, he declared with a beaming smile to his audience, "When this kind of sh*t happens, I'll play all night!"

In 2013, she released her second major studio album, Black Wind Howlin', featuring Mike Zito on guitar, Yonrico Scott on drums, Johnny Sansone on harmonica, and a vocal duet with Paul Thorn. The album was recorded in Dockside Studios, in Maurice, Louisiana. Mike Zito's bandmates from his group Royal Southern Brotherhood, Yonrico Scott and Charlie Wooton, were brought in to assist in the session recordings.

Her third studio album, ‘Wild Heart’ was released on July 10, 2015. Fish wrote five songs on the record. She co-wrote five other songs with Jim McCormick in Nashville, Tennessee. Luther Dickinson produced the album, as well as played various stringed instruments (guitar, bass, mandolin, lap steel) and the album was recorded in four studios, Royal Studios and Ardent Studios (Memphis, TN), Zebra Ranch (Coldwater, MS), and Blade Studios (Shreveport, LA). Other musicians on the record are Brady Blade (drums), Lightnin' Malcolm (guitar), Shardé Thomas (drums), Dominic Davis (bass), Shontelle Norman-Beatty (background vocals), and Risse Norman (background vocals).

Fish released her fourth solo album, Chills & Fever on March 17, 2017. The album was recorded in Detroit with members of the band ‘The Detroit Cobras’. Bobby Harlow produced the album. Her fifth album, ‘Belle of the West’, followed in December 2017.

Samantha released her sixth solo album, ‘Kill or Be Kind’, on September 20, 2019, on her new label, Rounder Records. It was chosen as a 'Favorite Blues Album' by AllMusic.

While often cited as a blues artist, Fish's albums and live shows feature multiple genres, including rock, country, funk, bluegrass and ballads.

The Deb Jenkins Band started over 39 years ago as the band called "Second Wind". After some member changes and down time Mike, (keyboard player and husband to Deb), changed the name of the band to "The Deb Jenkins Band". The style and type of music performed has stayed true to the beginning with Second Wind. Their style is sometimes referred to as Jazz, but really the heart of the band is rhythm and blues.

ALLY VENABLE 3:00PM Allly Venable is an American blues rock guitar player, singer, and songwriter. She was named the 2014 and 2015 ETX Music awards female guitar player of the year, and she and her band were the ETX Music Awards 2015 and 2016 blues band of the year.

Ally Venable was just 14 when she released her debut EP, ‘Wise Man’ (2013).

Her second album, ‘Puppet Show’, debuted at No. 7 in the Billboard Blues Albums Chart. Venable's third album, ‘No Glass Shoes’, with the Connor Ray Music label, finished at number 16 in the RMR Electric Blues Charts for 2016. Venable is touted a “must see act for under-30-year-olds” by America's Blue's Scene. Her fourth album Texas Honey was released in 2019 10

MISS MYRA AND THE MOONSHINERS 3:30PM Miss Myra and The Moonshiners are a formidable 5-piece swing band with a fresh female-driven perspective to traditional New Orleans and hot club jazz, playing a broad repertoire of classic tunes from the ‘20s and ‘30s and inspired originals. With powerful vocals, a smoking horn section, and sweet rhythm, they are guaranteed to lift spirits and fill the dance floor.

Discontent to be re-enactors, they have developed a singular style which continues to delight audiences and dance halls with the spirit of a musical tradition at its centennial.

ROCKY ATHAS 5:00PM Rocky Athas, known by critics and fans as “The Texas Tornado”, “The Malice from Dallas”, “The Young Eric Clapton” and “The Last Great Bluesbreaker Guitarist”, possesses an arsenal of punishing guitar riffs and catchy hooks that have opened every door. From his first solo album at Willie Nelson's studio, to recording with Buddy Miles and SRV's Double Trouble to Glenn Hughes, Joe Walsh and John Mayall, Rocky has a blues rock pedigree that reads like a who's who of musicians. You might not know how to pronounce his name correctly, but you will most certainly remember his playing!

After carrying the mantle of the coveted role of lead guitarist with John Mayall's legendary Bluesbreakers for eight years, Rocky Athas has renewed his successfully established solo career.

JOHN PRIMER 7:00PM John Primer has undisputedly helped build the sound and style of Chicago blues as we know it today. The echoes of tradition bellowing from the birthplaces he played such as: Maxwell Street, Theresa's, Checkerboard and Rosa's Lounges, pulse from every chord in his fingers today. John Primer is a Chicago Blues Living Legend.

Growing up on Mississippi sharecropper land in 1945, inspired by his family’s hard work and field songs daily, deep devotion to spirituals on Sundays, and blues on Saturdays! John dreamed of one day playing with the Legendary Muddy Waters!

Moving to Chicago in 1963, he started on that path of becoming a great bluesman, getting his first steady gig at the legendary Maxwell Street in Chicago on Sunday's and at the famous Theresa’s Lounge seven nights a week for seven years! John was taught by the founding fathers of the blues! Starting out with his own band the Maintainers with Pat Rushing on Maxwell Street, he then moved on to play with the legendary Sammy Lawhorn and Junior Wells at Theresa's Lounge. He worked hard and impressed Willie Dixon enough to go on tour with him and his Chicago Blues All-Stars Band. At this point he was known and John's dream finally came true in 1981 when he got to play with his idol, Muddy Waters!

Muddy called for him to lead his band and changed his life forever. After Muddy’s untimely death, he joined up with Magic Slim & The Teardrops for the next 14 years, traveling all over the world.

John paid his dues and in 1995 he began leading his own band, The Real Deal Blues Band. He has been recorded more than 87 albums with 17 albums in his own name. He has written and produced more than 55 songs on more than 6 record labels including his own, Blues House Productions. Earning 2 Grammy Award nominations, given 2 Lifetime Achievement Awards, inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame, awarded the "Muddy Award" for being a traditional blues icon, winning a Blues Music Award, Blues Blast Awards and countless other awards, John Primer is a legendary Chicago Blues Icon!

In 1995 the veteran blues man released his first major label debut “The Real Deal”, on Atlantic/Code Blue Records. This recording gave John the momentum and courage to go out on his own and form The Real Deal Blues Band. Not only has John toured all over America with his Real Deal Blues Band, but also Europe, Japan and South America. Some places that have never heard blues before. John has been recorded on more than 87 albums of which 17 albums are under his own name. He has written and produced more than 55 songs. John has recorded with Atlantic Records, Telarc Records, Blind Pig Records, Earwig Records, Wolf Records, Raisin Music, Delta Grove Records and VizzTone as well as his own record label, Blues House Productions (formed in 2008). John’s albums have been nominated by the Recording Academy and the National Blues Foundation. They have won three Blues Blast Awards, two Living Blues Awards as well numerous yearly nominations.

Often referred to as “The Godfather of British Blues,” John Mayall has an impressive musical career that spans over 50 years. The English blues singer, pianist, harmonica player, guitarist, and songwriter founded the band, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers in the 1960’s—a band whose members included many celebrated blues and blues rock guitarists, such as: Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Jack Bruce, Mick Taylor, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya and Buddy Whittington.

Attracted by the West Coast climate and culture, Mayall then made his permanent move from England to Los Angeles in 1969 and began forming bands with American musicians.

Throughout the next three decades, Mayall became further revered for his many jazz/rock/blues innovations featuring such notable performers as Blue Mitchell, Red Holloway, Larry Taylor, and Harvey Mandel. Mayall’s popularity continued with a succession of dynamic albums including the Grammy-nominated “Wake Up Call” that featured guest artists Buddy Guy, Mavis Staples, Albert Collins and Mick Taylor.

In 2008 Mayall made the decision to permanently retire the Bluesbreakers name and in 2009 started a new era of touring with band members Rocky Athas on guitar, Jay Davenport on drums and Greg Rzab on bass. They toured together for over seven years, averaging about 100 shows a year, and are featured players on four of John’s studio albums.

In August 2016 there was another big shift when thunderstorms prevented Rocky Athas from attending a festival, compelling John, Greg and Jay to perform as a trio. The sound they came up with lent an amazing new slant to John’s music and he made the bold decision to move to the trio format. They toured the USA, India and Europe in this format, and had enthusiastic responses from audiences everywhere. A sample of the fireworks they create onstage was released in February 2018 entitled “Three For the Road.” Recorded in Germany in 2016, this live CD has been very well received, garnering excellent reviews!

Always one step ahead, John has now hired a new member to be added to all live shows. Her well-known name is Carolyn Wonderland and she’s the first ever woman to hold the position of lead guitarist in any of John’s bands. She was one of the featured guitar players on John’s latest studio album “Nobody Told Me,” released February 2019, that also features Todd Rundgren, Steven Van Zandt, Joe Bonamassa, Larry McCray and Alex Lifeson on selected cuts. The road continues!
