JALAN Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR in short) was the main street in Kuala Lumpur at one time. It was originally known as Bata Road , so named because it began as a track leading to Batu village, limestone caves and tin mines.

Later, it was renamed Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, after our first Prime Minister. It is also the city's longest road with shops set up in prewar buildings along both sides. These buildings reflect changing trends in architectural design. The pre war buildings still stand though the more derelict have been torn down to give way to modern multi storey buildings.
Jalan TAR was famous for the Coliseum Cafe and Coliseum Cinema. Then Globe Silk Store opened and shoppers flocked here to pick up affordable clothing. Like a magnet, Jalan TAR attracted businesses with shops and restaurants selling all kinds of things from shoes and clothes to watches and souvenirs.
1989 - 1960
Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (JTAR) has lived up to its reputation of ancient architecture and economic commerce for a century.Shoppers flock to the area early in the day for its various shops and shopping arcades. The road was called after the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad.JTAR was once Batu Road, a road to the mining hamlet of Batu.
1990 - 2000
A century later, elderly people still call the road Batu Lut, while younger people call it Jalan TAR. Textile, carpet, and contemporary Malay stores line the route. Despite big bookstore chains, many tiny second-hand book vendors have survived.Development transformed the village's marshes, rice fields, and coconut farms into one of Kuala Lumpur's busiest roadways.
2022

The well-known street named Jalan Tar has a buy- and-sell system business located in each of its roads. There are various stall types in each street, including those food stalls, clothing, and other essentials which required people to have walking culture. According to observations, vendors near the main road are more popular than those situated in narrow alleys. In addition, there are scattered garbage stacks and used clothing that has been discarded in the street. In fact, it is also well known that there are several unemployed people or called homeless on every sidewalk outside the store, which impacts people's perspectives of Jalan Tar. So it will have an effect on the local smallbusiness owners.
In addition, foreigners and tourists who prefer to purchase in the market area frequently visit Jalan Tar. For that, they may benefit from their visit and gain insight if they become knowledgeable about Jalan Tar's history. Therefore, the main objective of the Jalan Tar site analysis is to make sure that the neighbourhood and surrounding districts are more pleasant and secure.

The objective of this project is to identify the existing circumstance and to address issues pertaining to the advantages and disadvantages of Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
The main objective of the study of the environment and human behaviour in Jalan Tar is to improve the community through the development of new facilities. In considering the circumstances, Jalan Tar was selected as a study site with the intention of establishing a structure that could provide comfort to the neighbourhood and users, specifically in terms of an charity centre, a food and beverage centre, a Jalan Tar gallery, and also a public facility centre in order to ensure convenience in society.
In addition, it may encourage travellers to come to Jalan Tar in order to do shopping or for other considerations. These conveniences were designed with the goal of ensuring that visitors to Jalan Tar gained something from their experience there and could leave satisfied.

Low-income people may get free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) care thanks to this initiative. offers free TCM checkups and treatments for the elderly and other low-income community members.
Classes, seminars, and activities aid development. Volunteers and members of the public from various backgrounds must learn new skills and information.

We have to get inspiration from our meanderings along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and use it as the basis for whatever we end up doing. Its value goes beyond the ability to guess what would look good on a random street. components both material and ethereal in nature are included in the design. My ideal project is a community center for a nonprofit group. It has the potential to make someone feel something and remember a certain experience.
