Profile I am an Architect who is enthusiastic about design and the transformation of ideas into spaces and buildings with regard of material and spatial quality with technical knowledge necessary to achieve energy efficient and low carbon buildings . My previous experience (six years) in Residential and educational buildings of different scales gave me confidence working with multi disciplinary teams and strong skills in the development of ideas in to reality regarding technical and aesthetical demands. Looking forward to work in projects integrating sustainability criteria and design, and explore applications for low carbon, energy efficient buildings, as well integration of concepts of sustainability into living and spatial exploration.

Martyr’s Square- Beirut Lebanon 2004

COMPETITION 3th prize

The competition called for a proposal for the reconstruction of the Martyr’s square and its the adjacent areas; one of the scenarios of violence during Lebanon’s civil war. The proposal is a wound-like symbolic surface, that aims to act as an integration surface of both sides (muslim and catholic) and allocates services and cultural spaces in underground spaces while proposed buildigns that “float” over this continuous surface. In the context of an idea competitions the project looks forward to highlight the simbolic, and historical character of a mostly demolished existing context in a city such as Beirut.

District university - Bogota Colombia 2009

The aim of the competition was the design of a campus for a public university in a deprived neighborhood in Bogota. The proposed project extends the use of the buildings beyond the university’s program requirements; promoting by its location and layout the use of university buildings (like auditorium, library, playgrounds, etc) by the surrounding comunity. The resulting scheme aims to promote a higher integration between the university and the comunity engaging both students in the comunity life and comunity with the university activities.

COMPETITION 1st prize

Library 12 de Octubre- Medellin Colombia 2009

The competition called for a proposal for a public library , part of a plan to provide with services for young people deprived and violent areas of the city of Medellin. In order to create an strong cultural identification between the comunity with the building, an iconic element from the local “festival de las flores” (flower festival) is used as motive for the principal facade. The “silleta” which is a traditional flower arrangement used by the early inhabitants of the city to merchandize flowers is re-enacted in the facade of the building providing the aditional function of solar control for the building.

COMPETITION

Residential building “Palos Verdes Bogota Colombia 2003

This residential building exploits the proximity with an adjacent park and promenade. The project is characterised by its big windows facing the park and by its constant relationship between the internal spaces and the park . The other facades of the building (facing roads or close neighbours) are built in brick and slate. Special care was taken in the use of those traditional materials and the interpretation of handcraft and tradition in a contemporary language.

Interior Design “Bosque refugio” Bogota, Colombia Short-listed Biennale of Colombian architecture 2008 The main concept for the design of this flat was the client desire of large multifunctional spaces, for this reason the divisions and elements are designed to float in the open spaces and to give as much visual continuity as possible. As it was the intention of the occupants to allocate an eclectic collection of objects and art pieces gathered along its life, the design is kept simple and the space’s character is defined by the occupants througth furniture and art pieces.

Mercer St London UK 2011

ACADEMIC-Dissertation AA+EE SED

Massive timber+Urban infill+energy efficiency The project explores the use of small gaps in the city for residetial - mixed use and the possibility of high performance urban dwellings. The project is part of a wider resesarch on the use of massive timber prefabrication and its possitive impact on the energy consumption and comfort during winter and summer. One of the main features of the project is the proposed adaptable facade that provides to the occupants with the possibility of ventilation and shade in summer and additional insulation on winter. The building is conceived as a neutral container that maximizes flexibility in the internal layout while its envelope provides the possibility to modulate the climatic conditions. The shades are designed based on the solar geometry and orientation , and variations in its geometry allows an always changing facade and dynamic interiors. The repetitive character of the modular prefabrication is thus enhanced with a dynamic facade that changes depending on the perspective from where its approached and the random decisions of its users .

Retrofitting + New building. Rejuvenating strategies in a degraded neighborghood. Bogota Colombia 2003

ACADEMIC: UN Dissertationtion

The project focuses on the reuse of two old derelicted buildings in Bogota’s downtown and the occupation of a narrow site in between. It proposes a simbiotic relatioship between new and old buildigns. The constrained site conditions became an excuse for typological exploration of occupation strategies. This project is part of the Dissertation for architect degree that explores strategies for rejuvenation of forgotten areas in the downtown in Bogota. manzana 1998 Aerofotografía Fuente:Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi
