STEM Day Science Expo The College of Science and Technology teamed up with various departments, National and Local Laboratories for the Science Expo. During the Science Expo, students interacted with both representatives from FAMU academic programs and national laboratories.

“How High Will Each Rocket Go?� Students experienced the practice of being a physicist as they explored the concepts presented in the water rocket experiment.
ARMY STEM TRUCK The Army STEM Truck is a Non-kinetic, interactive STEM exhibit, designed to showcase hi-tech capabilities and opportunities within the Army. The STEM experience includes a series of 3 different rooms: The Situation Room, The Mission Room, and the Research and Development Room.

STEM Day Parent Workshop “Why Information Technology is a GREAT Choice for Your Child” Information Technology (IT) is everywhere. The demand for IT is increasing rapidly, which is driving an extreme demand for IT talent. The number of minorities engaging in IT related jobs are low related to other demographic groups, which creates a unique opportunity for advancement and creativity. Mr. Morris discussed ways for parents to ensure their children are ready for the challenge and that they exceed expectations.

Thank You From The Dean!! On behalf of the College of Science and Technology (CST) and the STEM Day Planning Committee, I want to thank the many students, faculty, staff, sponsors, and supporters who helped make STEM Day 2016 a huge success. STEM Day is one of our signature STEM outreach initiatives. This year’s event included 187 middle and high school students, 31 parents, two invited speakers, 19 FAMU faculty members, and 28 FAMU academic Dean Maurice D. Edington, Ph.D. programs. We were also very fortunate to receive generous financial support and donations from 14 sponsors, which allowed materials, supplies, giveaways and food to be provided to the participants. The theme of STEM Day 2016 was “Crack the Code,” which provided students with hands-on problem solving activities in various STEM disciplines. During the day, students had an opportunity to listen to exciting presentations from invited speakers and participate in the Science Expo, where they received information about FAMU’s academic programs and STEM initiatives. The day was a tremendous success and was met with great enthusiasm from program participants. Planning has already begun to make next year’s event an even greater success.
