2017 Annual Report Family Wellness, LLC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire healthy lifestyles by connecting people in a fun environment.

FAMILY WELLNESS In 2017, Family Wellness celebrated 6 years as one of Fargo’s premier fitness facilities. Our 80,000 square foot facility offers a variety of activities for all ages.

Wellness is a lifestyle. It’s a lifelong journey of improving our mind, body, spirit and community. Family Wellness combines the missions of Sanford Health and the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties to actualize a vision where health and healing connect with people, programs and facilities. True wellness consists of seven unique pillars that must move in tandem to achieve success. Family Wellness does its part to combine these elements in one place. Because when we commit to a life of wellness, we are able to unlock the potential within and inspire others to find their own inner strength. In short, togetherness is wellness.

COMMUNITY IMPACT As a non-profit organization, Family Wellness is dedicated to providing need based community programming to children, adults, and families in our area.

The Inspire Wellness Initiative began as an idea from a group of passionate staff who wanted to strive for healthier families in our community. These staff members volunteered to pilot a variety of programs that would help people live healthier. This became known as the Inspire Wellness Initiative.

Funds raised through the Initiative help support need based community wellness programming.

The Three Pillars of the Inspire Wellness Initiative are Cook Well, Move Well and Live Well.

Cook Well encourages better food choices through healthy cooking skills.

Healthy Cooking in the Classroom | Family Wellness provides hands on cooking instruction in the classroom to 27 area elementary schools. In the 2016 -2017 school year we impacted over 2,000 students and taught children many different food preparation skills such as: opening cans, slicing, mixing, dry and wet measuring, and heat element safety. The Healthy Cooking in the Classrooms program is now in the health curriculum for all 4th and 5th grade students in the West Fargo School District and Fargo Public School District.

MOVE WELL

FIT Start Youth Weight Management | FIT Start provides an innovative approach to weight management that incorporates youth physical activity along with healthy cooking and nutrition sessions. Youth can be referred to the program by Sanford Health providers and they receive a subsidized cost for enrolling which allows all people access to the program.

Parkinson’s Program | Certified Family Wellness Trainers work with the Parkinson community to combine physical activity and interactive group sessions to help participants manage their symptoms in a fun, social, and supportive environment.

LIVE WELL

Family Support Program | The Family Support Program provides relief to out of town families of extended stay hospital patients at Sanford Medical Center Fargo through facility access so they can work on their own wellness while supporting their loved one who is in the hospital.
