2015 Holiday Gift Guide Edition
Merry Christmas! Two words, with such different meaning for each one speaking them to another or hearing them spoken to them. Two words that in some cases have become offensive, yet at the same time become reinforced as meaningful to others because of the significance of their true meaning. I wonder what those two words means to you, or if they hold a true meaning at all? I wonder if you will have a merry Christmas this year, of if it has been tainted by life’s hurts, inconsistencies, let downs and failures. My hope for you is that this will be not only a merry Christmas, but a merry year... a merry season in your life. One that is filled with more ups than downs, more hopes that dashes, more dreams than failures, more energy than illness, more smiles than tears and more reason to live than wishes to be done. In this day and age we are bombarded with bad news and unsure tomorrows, like never before. Be it because of social awareness, instant access to news, or the very nature of the media wishing to portray the evils over the good, whatever the reason, we are still surrounded by a good report. A world filled with people that love, people that care, and people that are there when we need them .... and we should all strive to be one of those people, reaching out to help one another. As I heard someone say recently, be the change you want to see. We all have the opportunity to reach out and be the hands to help one another. Some of us can do it in large ways, others have limitations on what they can do physically and monetarily, but if we all do our little bit, it adds up to so much good. Family Review Center, as a company, is setting high goals to help more small and new companies this year than ever before in our fifteen years in business. By contributing more free and low priced opportunities for companies to get the word out about their products, we will help new and struggling companies get off to a good start, much easier. We are also committed to helping more families with donations of reviewed products, than ever before. We are opening up a birthday and baby shower registry for mothers to sign up to receive free products we have reviewed for their newborns and young children, to help those single and struggling mothers in need with quality products sent in for review. We have done this in the past on a smaller scale but this year we will make it a larger focus. This Christmas season I challenge each of you to find a way to help someone. Reach out of your circle, reach out of your comfort zone and lend a hand. Some call it paying it forward ... I call it paying it back because all of us have been there, where we needed a helping hand and someone was kind enough to take a chance and help ... Let’s all lend a hand up and over the hurdle this year and get our neighbors out of the tough spot they are in. We can all do something .... Will we, is the question? I would love to hear your stories of how someone has helped you, or you have reached out to help others. Please drop me a note and share your story. Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

It all started back in 2011 when the disposable food pouches were really becoming popular. They were really convenient but they cost so much money and so much plastic was being thrown away. We were sure there had to be a good reusable container to buy for us to serve our own favorite smoothies and purees to our children. To our amazement, we couldn’t find anything. We knew exactly what we wanted but it did not exist. We got some paper and a pencil and the initial sketch of the Squeasy Snacker came to life. We started listing all the features our dream feeding container had to have. “Are we really considering making this?”, we asked ourselves. “We have to!” was the response. We weren’t the only ones that had this “Ah-Ha!” moment. Today you can find several different products that try to meet the demand parents have for a good reusable feeding pouch (most of which are made out of all plastic, are hard to fill, leak, or just don’t work well). Though it was discouraging to see new products pop up while we were still perfecting the “Squeasy Snacker”, none of them met all the requirements we knew parents, like us, wanted for our kids. We took a risk as parent entrepreneurs and poured our entire heart and soul into our idea. Every time one of our three children excitedly asks for their “Squeasy”, it makes it all worth it.
