A chance to see behind the scenes in the railway workshops at Ruislip Lido Railway, with displays on the history and operation of the line along with information on volunteering. Planetarium Celebration Shows (SE10)

On May 7 1925, the world’s first projection planetarium opened to the public at the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany. Now, nearly 100 years later, there are thousands of planetaria all around the globe, and May 7 has been selected to be the new International Day of Planetariums. Elizabethan May Day Event (HP8)

Experience Elizabethan May Day merriment with dancing, swordplay, gunpowder and more at Chiltern Open Air Museum! Bringing history to life at Chiltern Open Air Museum JULY

This spring, there is lots to do at Chiltern Open Air Museum. The living history events will take visitors on a trip to see Roman Gladiators in battle, take part in Elizabethan Mayday Merriment, watch Medieval Jousting and enjoy the spectacle of the biggest gathering of reenactors when the Napoleonic Association take over the museum for a weekend of fascinating displays.

During May half-term there’ll be crafts and activities for children on Terrific Tuesday and in June a Green Festival will be a joyful family day out with an environmental focus.

Chiltern Open Air Museum is an outdoor museum with a collection of historic buildings spanning 2000 years offering a captivating journey through time. From ancient structures to more recent additions, each building tells a unique story.
