NEUROSURGERY IN THE ROCKIES A BIG SUCCESS!

Our 36th annual conference, “Neurosurgery in the Rockies,” was held in March at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Vail, Colorado. After many years, we outgrew our space in Beaver Creek and moved to Vail. The conference continues to be an intimate gathering hosted by the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, but this year we cohosted it with the Colorado Neurosurgical Society. The conference provides an environment in which neurosurgeons can exchange ideas, meet new friends, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. This year, the first two days were subspecialty focused in the area of Neurosurgical Spine surgery and the final two days included general neurosurgery topics relevant to private practice and academic neurosurgery. The Honored Guest (among many other featured speakers) was Michael YungShun Wang, MD, FACS from the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami. Dr. Wang is a Professor of Neurological Surgery and Chief of Service and Medical Director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Program. He spoke on issues pertaining to robotics in spine surgery and difficulties for spine surgeons in clinic settings.

Educational sessions were held in the early morning and late afternoon. When not in session, the surgeons and vendors enjoyed the slopes!
