THE RESPONSIBILITY AND PRIVILEGE OF PARENTING

One of the most significant responsibilities God has given parents is to be the primary disciplemakers of their children. It is part of how He uses the family as the key means of growing His kingdom. This is not a responsibility that parents can push to pastors or youth ministers. It is also something in which grandparents or even those without children can participate. Every believer can play an important role in discipling the next generation of Christ followers, but it is parents that have the primary responsibility.

While the discipleship of children takes consistent, intentional, daily effort, Christian holidays like Easter provide special opportunities to focus attention on Christ. Faith Radio strives to be a resource to help equip parents to do what God has called them to do. Many of our programmers have an emphasis on family, and during the Easter season, they provide discipleship helps for families.

FamilyLife, as the name implies, is one of our most family focused programmers. Their mission is to “effectively develop godly families who change the world one home at a time.” They do that through their website, conferences, materials, and a radio program, FamilyLife Today, which can be heard on Faith Radio weekdays at noon. One of their unique resources that is often highlighted during Easter is Resurrection Eggs. Available on the FamilyLife website, Resurrection Eggs are a carton of colorful plastic eggs that tell the story of Easter in an

engaging way for children of all ages. This is a great resource for evangelism and discipleship that you can use with children in your church, neighborhood, or home.

While FamilyLife is intentionally family-focused, many of our programmers offer resources for families. Because we cannot lead others beyond where we ourselves are, one of the best things parents can do to equip themselves to disciple their children is to grow spiritually themselves. We will only grow spiritually when we are regularly practicing the spiritual disciplines, particularly the discipline of spending time in God’s Word. We encourage you to tune in regularly to Faith Radio to be nourished through a steady diet of the Bible through our expositional teachers. Our programming can be an enriching complement to your personal Bible study and your regular time of worship in your local church.

At Faith Radio, we want to help equip you to do what God has called you to do. For parents, that is the responsibility of discipling your children. While this is a weighty responsibility, it is also a great privilege and joy. Parents should not miss out on the joy of evangelizing and discipling their children by outsourcing it to the “professionals.” No, what God has called us to do, He will equip us to do. Through the many resources He has provided us, including His Word and His Church, we can equip ourselves for the task before us, for His glory and the growth of His kingdom.

JOIN US IN PRAYER!

A pastor on Faith Radio recently shared this: “Pray when you feel like praying. Pray when you don’t feel like praying. Pray until you do feel like praying.” We are your prayer partner here at Faith Radio no matter how you feel each day! We encourage you to pray for us, and we will also pray for you. We have grown our prayer toolbox and have many resources to help your prayer life. Chuck Swindoll shared this great truth: “Prayer is an investment. The time you dedicate to prayer isn’t lost; it will return dividends far greater than what a few moments spent on a task ever could. If we fail to cultivate this discipline, prayer winds up being our last resort rather than our first response.” We believe in investing in prayer, and invite you to invest, as well!

When you visit our website, the opening rotating window will scroll a graphic “PRAYER - JOIN IN PRAYING FOR OUR COMMUNITIES”.

Clicking on this will provide you with a wealth of prayer resources, including options to submit your prayer request to us. It would be our honor to pray for you and your family. Additionally, the link to “Light Our Community,” a project of His Vessel Ministries and Faith Radio, contains prayer cards for you on these topics:

We encourage you to stayed tuned to Faith Radio, as we pray on the radio throughout the day and night and share about the many activities we have happening in our communities on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday May 1, 2025.

faces

We celebrated with Faulkner University as they shared about the dedication of the new College of Health Sciences building, which offers free health services to our community in the name of Jesus.

We partnered with Haven Memory Care to provide the community with a Live Nativity and many opportunities to share Christ during the Christmas season. We’re thankful for the Anderson family’s participation!

Prayer walks in the River Region provide many opportunities to pray for one another and meet new friends.

We are blessed to be a blessing to other ministries! We shared the tremendous work John Gibbons and the FCA does in our schools (pictured right), celebrated 75 years of ministry with 4VEH in Haiti (pictured above), and met new ministry partners at Trinity Presbyterian Church’s Ministry Market (pictured above right).

Faith Radio was recognized for our participation in the National Religious Broadcasting Convention for over 20 years!

Families STRENGTHENS

Over the years, this quote has been shared on Faith Radio many times: “A nation is only as strong as its families!” David Jeremiah recently reminded us that before God instituted anything else we know as an organization, He instituted the family. In fact, in the Bible, there are only three things that God established as far as organizations: Family, Government (after the flood), and the Church (in Acts). It’s in the first part of Genesis that God established the family. The family is the core of our culture. We know that Satan wants to tear apart our families, because he comes to kill, steal and destroy.

The challenges of families today are great… and our ministry is here to help each family member grow their faith in Jesus, as we point them to God’s Word. The core of our mission at Faith Radio is “to strengthen the family unit.” Our teaching programs are focused upon keeping Christ at the center of your life and your family. We must return to the Word of God as the source of authority on families.

We have been so encouraged to hear from you the significant role Faith Radio plays in providing spiritual growth opportunities among families. Our ministry serves as a constant source of inspiration, guidance, and education through our songs and amazing programs that focus on biblical teachings, testimonies, and practical advice for everyday life. We are thankful your support allows us to reach thousands each day in their homes, cars, and workplaces. Jack Hibbs reminded us, “When we listen to the Word of God, it transforms our hearts and minds.” This transformation is essential for families seeking to nurture their spiritual lives, as it encourages all of us to engage in worship and Bible study while also faithfully serving one another.

A listener told us they are always pleased that our programming addresses issues relevant to today’s society. From discussions about parenting to truths about Christ-centered marriages, our ministry offers practical insights grounded in scripture. Greg Laurie shared, “The family is God’s first institution,” underscoring the significance of nurturing family life in alignment with Christian principles. By tuning in to Faith Radio, families can find encouragement and wisdom to navigate challenges while building a spiritually centered household.

In addition to fostering individual faith in Jesus, Faith Radio promotes community among believers. Families can feel connected to a larger body of Christ through shared listening experiences and discussions about faith. Max Lucado aptly puts it, “You are never more like Jesus than when you are serving others.” This sense of community encourages families to engage in worship and service together, reinforcing their spiritual growth and commitment to one another and to God. The collective experience of listening to inspiring messages can lead to meaningful family discussions and a deeper understanding of your faith in Jesus.

The intentional focus on spiritual growth of families is essential in today’s fast-paced world, and Faith Radio plays a pivotal role in facilitating this growth. As families encounter biblical teachings, share experiences, and find encouragement through our programming, they strengthen their bonds and deepen their faith. In the words of Adrian Rogers, “A family is a place where principles are hammered and honed on the anvil of everyday living.” By prioritizing spiritual growth and embracing the resources available through Faith Radio, families can cultivate a vibrant faith that nourishes their relationships and guides them through life’s challenges.

STATE OF THE FAMILY NRB Conversations Highlight God’s View

of Family

We recognize the Bible teaches that God has a plan for our families. He created marriage, as we read in Genesis chapter 2, and he gave married couples the charge to “be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it” (Genesis 1:28). This creation mandate is fulfilled through the family -- an institution through which God intends to work.

Despite being a blessed institution created and ordained by God, the family has faced unique challenges these days. At almost every level, the culture has waged war against marriage, family, and children. At the recent National Religious Broadcasters Convention, I was privileged to interview Katy Faust, President and Founder of the ministry Them Before Us, which is “a global movement defending children’s right to their mother and father.” Faust discussed recent cultural trends and

how unbiblical ideas do not offer the best circumstances in which children can live and grow. I also spoke with Delano Squires, who serves as Research Fellow for the Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Life, Religion, and Family at The Heritage Foundation. Squires is a frequent social commentator on issues related to family and, in our interview, he offered insightful thoughts about strengthening the family.

At the NRB, I was also able to reunite with J.P. De Gance, Founder and President of Communio, which is a research-based organization that is devoted to providing help and direction for marriage and the family. He discussed challenges facing the family and how declining families have contributed to spiritual deficiencies.

The ministry of Faith Radio is committed to providing Biblical truth, which provides the foundation upon which our families should be built. The Meeting House spotlights content that can help to build strong relationships in the home, with conversations ranging from practical principles that can provide direction for marriages to activities that parents and children can enjoy together to help build their kids’ faith walk with Jesus.

BRINGING GOD’S TRUTH TO FAMILIES Faith Radio programs offer God’s hope

Faith Radio is pleased to offer a programming lineup that features ministries and programs devoted to presenting a Biblical view of the family and providing principles and resources that can help families see God’s presence released in their homes.

Focus on the Family with Jim Daly is one of our broadcasts with a strong family focus. A ministry of Focus on the Family, the broadcast can be heard weekdays at 8:30 a.m. and aims to provide biblically-sound guidance on an array of topics related to marriage, parenting, and families. In addition to the radio broadcast, the ministry offers a wealth of family-focused resources through its website, FocusOnTheFamily.org. One such resource, Alive to Thrive, tackles the difficult issue of teen suicide. Another, Hope Restored, is a multi-day marriage intensive for couples to interact with experienced professionals to improve their marriages. These are held at various locations across the U.S., including the WinShape Retreat Center in Rome, GA. Focus on the Family also offers a free, one-hour consultation that can help provide direction for marriage and family issues. For more information, you can call 1-855-771-HELP.

Since 1987, Focus on the Family has produced Adventures in Odyssey, an award-winning audio drama series. Targeting children ages 8-12, but enjoyed by the whole family, Adventures in Odyssey explores the adventures in and around the town of Odyssey and the community center known as Whit’s End. The 1000th episode of Odyssey recently aired on Faith Radio, and Katie Leigh, who is the voice of Odyssey character Connie Kendall, was a guest on The Meeting House program.

FamilyLife is another ministry with a family focus. Their radio program, FamilyLife Today, is heard weekdays at noon on Faith Radio. One of FamilyLife’s biggest annual ministry events is the Weekend to Remember Marriage Getaway. This year, the event will be in Montgomery on May 1618 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel & Spa. This weekend experience offers biblically-based principles through which couples can have a stronger marriage. You can learn more through FamilyLife.com/Weekend-To-Remember.

For families who have members with special needs, the ministry of Joni and Friends presents Joni Eareckson Tada: Sharing Hope weekday mornings around 10:25 a.m. and A Moment with Joni, at various times on Faith Radio, including 12:10 a.m. Monday through Sunday. The ministry will be hosting a Joni and Friends Family Retreat at Camp McDowell in Nauvoo, Alabama, June 23-27. You can find out more at JoniAndFriends.org.

In our Christ-centered programming, Faith Radio is mindful of the need for families to be reliant on Jesus and practicing faith in Him. Our programmers share high-quality radio programs and offer effective resources in order that families can have an impact on our culture for the Lord.

gifts in memory and in honor of...

A memorial gift is a meaningful way to honor someone at the time of death by recognizing that person’s Christian faith and testimony. Similarly, an honorarium is a tangible way of honoring a living person’s testimony. We are thankful for individuals listed below who choose to honor friends and loved ones through a gift that extends the message of Christ through Faith Radio’s ministry.

WHO DO YOU PRAISE?

As we enter this Easter season, do you have praise constantly on your lips? Our God is honorable, accountable, and favorable. His grace is remarkable. His mercy is immeasurable. His strength is impenetrable. He is unsearchable yet knowable. He is indescribable yet personal. The humble Son of God became the perfect sacrifice. He willingly stood in our place and lovingly endured the grave. He battled the enemy and on the third day rose in victory. He is beyond comprehension, and our Savior is worthy of our praise! Will you partner with us this Easter? Your financial gifts to this ministry become tools we use to point to the truth, the Word, our Risen King, and they will become a tangible way to praise the name of the Lord!
