Update on Town Crier Office The Town Crier will soon have an office. . . a small convenient space sandwiched between Elena the Groomer and The Electric Guitar Shop at 1185F Charlotte Highway in Fairview with plenty of convenient parking. We hope to have the office open every afternoon, Monday to Friday, but there is a mail slot in the window for dropoffs any time. The Crier office, nicknamed “The Hub,” will have extra copies of the paper, information on community events, brochures and business cards of local businesses and charitable groups, and other handouts. We look forward to finishing the painting, cleaning and decorating to be open mid February or March 1. Stop by and say hello. A huge thank you to Rennard Madrazo of The ElectricGuitar Shop and Patrick Bryant of Americare Pharmacy… this couldn’t have happened without them. — Your Editor, Sandie Rhodes
FFD FUNDRAISER WIth all this ice and snow you may be dreaming of warm weather, cold lemonade and delicious barbecue. Well, if you can wait about a month, you’ll get that barbecue! Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 8… rain or shine. You see, Tim and Becky Brewer are great supporters of our Fairview Fire Department and all they do, and hope to be able to do, so they decided to host a fundraiser with 100% of all profits going directly to the Fire Department. If you’d like to help, donate a prize, service or other food and/or dessert, please give Tim a call at 242-1624 or Sandie Rhodes at the Town Crier, 628-1422.,
Give a Snuggle to your Valentine .... and benefit Brother Wolf! Sure, a snuggly new puppy with a big red bow would get some serious points with that someone special, but if you're not ready for the morning-after chewed-up shoe, you can still have a furbaby deliver your Valentine's Day love with no strings attached. For a donation of $45, a cute-as-can-be Brother Wolf rescued dog or puppy will stop by for a visit at your honey’s home or workplace on Friday, February 14, bearing a flower and personalized card, balloon, and sweet treat. Send a Puppygram to family, friends, and coworkers too — who doesn't love puppy kisses? Deadline to order is Thursday, February 13; available within 15 miles of Asheville. Visit bwar.org or call 828 575-2699 to order today.
…or how about a Singing Valentine with Roses & Chocolate!

FOUND!
A man’s wedding band was found at Kounty Line Gas Station. If it’s yours and you can provide the initials that are engraved inside the band, please call Keaven in the garage at 298-4889 and he’ll be happy to get it back to you. Editor’s Note: Hurry, before your wife finds out!
This is very difficult to write but someone took the body of a young female tri-colored dog and shoved it into a cardboard box. They then drove down Hollywood Road in Fairview and veered off the road at the deep curve, as is evidenced by the tread marks left in the mud. They then tossed the pup in the box off to the side of the road down the ditch a bit in among the overgrown brush and trees. I have tried to imagine what would make someone discard a pet this way and I can’t come up with any reason. Would it have taken much more time to dig a hole and bury the poor thing? We can only hope she was dead before she was thrown away. I will always wonder.
Can you help for an hour?

JANUARY
This dog has been living in an abandoned shed off Hwy 74A close to Fairview Station and The Local Joint since June of last year. Have tried to capture but no luck. Seems sweet but very skittish. Looks like lab mix. Do you know who might have owned him/her? Call 776-0663.
Once a month, the Town Crier appears in your mailbox... free. We hope you enjoy receiving it. Volunteers put labels on papers going to Gerton, Fletcher and Reynolds. Can you spare one hour at 9:30 am, Friday, February 28 to help? We meet at the Fairview Library. Call Sandie at 628-1422 for info.
