His voice was feeble. But it swayed countless. Indians and millions world over! His frame frail. But, he defeated the empire on which the Sun would never set!
He was derided as a half-naked fakir. Yet, he was adored by the vast multitudes of Indians!
Under his leadership, simple tools like spinning wheel, Ramdhun and fast became powerful weapons.
Under his guidance, Ahimsa, Satyagraha, Hindi and Harijan Seva became potent political statements. From non-violence to naturopathy, from Brahmacharya to Swadeshi, from goat’s milk to salt satyagraha… he walked the talk. He believed that the leader should serve and did the same all through his life.
About him Albert Einstein said: "Generations to come,it may well be, will scarce believe that such a man as this one everin flesh and blood walked upon this Earth.”
To Tagore, he was Mahatma – the great soul.
To millions of Indians, he was just Bapu. Decades after he departed, Gandhi continues to inspire millions –within and outside India.
