Department of Medicine, Division of Palliative Care
Andrea Bordallo serves the program manager in the division of palliative care, department of medicne. In addition to innumerable one-off education projects, Andrea has been stunning in the accuracy, timeliness, and creativity in what I see as the 3 core activities supporting DPM Education. This includes her work help to develop the concept of core and non-core educational activities for the department. Given the inevitable need to prioritize our focus, Andrea is thoughtful and compassionate. Andrea runs the annual review process for Core content, including soliciting new activities so that department's education program is complete and upto-date. Andrea also spearheaded the development of an Educational Repository, collecting, organizing, and reviewing submitted content for relevance, alignment with non-oppressive approaches and language. See Commitment section below. Andrea juggles a huge number of learners, flawlessly structuring sessions, allowing learners the best chance to learn, and working tirelessly to accommodate learners who apply late, apply to already full rotations, and, generally, who need extra help and a personal touch to get what they need to meet their education goal.

With each change, Patrick, Marybeth, and Alexis played a significant role in bringing the change to fruition. The GME staff team identified ways to facilitate community partnership ivolvement and streamline their compensation so that such individuals and organizations received their payment in a timely fashion. Additionally, faculty state, "because of their diligence and willingness willingness to find creative solutions, we have successfully implemented short-staffed, but they have continued to work hard with grace and professionalism to ensure that the residents, are able to focus on the patient care and learning that brought us to UCSF.”
Pediatric Education Team
Department of Pediatrics
he Pediatric Residency administrative team, ThuyLoan Nguyen, Pediatrics Residency Program Manager; Rex Dacanay, Education Analyst; Cherise Masunaga, Education Program Manager; and Jade Hickman, MPH, Education Program Manager has been an essential partner in providing residents with their current educational experiences and redesigning the curriculum for the coming academic year. The administrative team played a critical role in our recruitment of a diverse group of interns. There are many behind the scenes activities that keep the recruitmen program running, such as on a given applicant day, the administrative team is responsible for coordinating interviews for up to 24 applicants, which includes filling holes when there are last minute interview cancellations, coordinating resident participation in virtual social activities, and manning the "applicant hotline” when there is any issue with the applicant day. As well as the day of event. During this, they not only coordinate the operations of hosting a 40+ person meeting, but also manage the rank list itself (updating it in real time in response to faculty, fellow, and resident feedback). This is a gargantuan effort that could not occur without their support.
administrative team’s work has been integral in keeping our program in compliance with ACGME requirements.
