I’m Allan Mccaffrey and I have been involved in farming since 2013, supplying fresh free-range Happy Hens eggs from my farm in Grouville. I sell my produce across Jersey. Trusted by supermarkets, wholesalers, restaurants, bakers and farm shops, I am committed to delivering local, delicious free range eggs from happy, healthy hens.

Our 8,000 hens roam freely in open fields and mobile housing, the natural environment allows the hens to live healthy, stress-free lives— resulting in tastier, higher-quality eggs. Every day we collect, pack, and distribute approximately 6,000 eggs, which are delivered within 24 hours of being laid, ensuring maximum freshness and flavour for our customers. Our eggs are packed in vibrant, colourful boxes that reflect the freshness and quality inside. Unlike imported eggs—which can be up to 10 days old before hitting the shelf, we offer a truly local, farm-totable experience. Although free-range farming is more labour-intensive and costly than intensive systems, we believe in putting animal welfare and product quality first. Our customers taste the difference and value the care that goes into every egg.
What’s new/what’s coming up?
Looking ahead, we’re collaborating with other poultry farms across Jersey and Guernsey to form the Channel Islands Egg Alliance. In partnership with a UK poultry specialist, we’re designing a daily henmonitoring system to ensure the highest standards of welfare and husbandry. Together, we’re raising the bar for egg production in the Channel Islands—putting care, quality, and sustainability first..
I am Jenni Liddiard and I run Field Farm in St Lawrence with my husband David, where we rear different breeds of sheep, goats and pigs, and run courses for those who want a taster session of smallholding and animal husbandry. I’m a former Radiographer and daughter of a sheep farmer, and am passionate about the welfare and quality of life for all the animals on our farm

We sell our meat privately through a box scheme. The lambs are reared naturally off grass on the lush pastures of St Lawrence. ‘Grown here not flown here’ is our motto and we pride ourselves on the high standard of welfare of our animals, which is reflected in the quality of the delicious, lean, tender lamb. The apples from our own orchard produce the UK’s only Pure Cloudy Sparkling Apple Juice – 100% pure juice, no added sugar or water just fizz! We also produce Cider from 100% apple Juice. Available from certain cafes and by arrangement at the farm.
What’s new/what’s coming up?
New for 2025 are our Farm Tours. A unique and effective way for any business looking to achieve its ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ or just have a great fun day out together as a team, where you’ll get to sample our Genuine Jersey products, interact with the animals and engage in education, conservation and support local sustainable food systems. We’ve already run some incredibly successful tours with groups and are keen to speak to businesses who might be interested in joining us for a tailored ‘day on the farm’.

I’m Steve Pearl, a wood turner based in Hamptonne, St Lawrence which is where the name of my business Hamptonne Woodturning stems.. I started wood turning in the 1970s whilst at school, and since retirement six years ago I have focused on inlay and resin inserts in my pieces. I also make bespoke furniture and charcuterie and cutting boards.
Tell us about your Genuine Jersey Products
I mostly use locally sourced woods, taken from felled trees due to damage or disease, and recycled wood. My favourite woods to turn include cherry, walnut and oak, and I use a lot of ash, maple, elm and chestnut in my boards. I incorporate different materials encased in resin glass to decorate wood turned pieces, including stone, glass and shell. I strive to combine function with art on all my pieces, and almost never make two things the same. My cutting boards are usually made “end grain” making a superior, long lasting, and beautiful board. I make coffee tables and dining tables to order, and work with clients to ensure the end result meets their expectations
What’s new/what’s coming up?
I have recently made a range of bowls and vases incorporating Jersey ormer shells, creating a beautiful mother of pearl colour encased in tinted resin glass. I still exhibit and sell in local markets, but find I am making more bespoke pieces for clients, often personalised and brought as unique presents, trophies and wedding gifts. I do not sell directly online, but do regularly show new pieces on Facebook, under Hamptonne Wood Turning. I believe clients need to see pieces in close detail, feel, and even smell! If you see anything you like you can message me to arrange a viewing.

One of the most well-used expressions in the estate agent lexicon is “location, location, location.” It is, of course, an important element of somewhere you’re looking to put your lounge, bed and kitchen. When you’re talking about a property that offered the ability to explore inside and out with CGI prior to the build, you know you’re at the end of the market that brings another such expression into play: “specification, specification, specification.”
OK, I concede that the six extra syllables make it less of an attractive catchphrase, but it’s very relevant for a home that is set to be built in the eight-figure-andup price range. When Gaudin & Co shared these images with us of a finished Villa Cambray, it was great to see the dream come to life, as the details describe: “A masterpiece of luxury with panoramic views over St Aubin’s Bay.” All three floors of it.
The property really is in an exceptional south-facing position on Mont Cambrai, with panoramic sea views of St Aubin’s Bay. The home has been designed to harness that all-day passage of the sun, with three floors of glassfronted living space, flanked by granite to give it a Jersey feel. The design allows practical use of the plot shape, funneling in natural light.
It seems that ‘artisan’ is the moniker for people who make everything from brownies to cocktails these days, but it takes a particularly attentive craftsman to create the sort of finishes applied at Villa Cambray. The specification of cabinetry and finish gives an air of five-star hotel; that’s the work of a real artisan. The lower ground floor houses the principal living space, which includes the hand-crafted kitchen, fitted with top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances. It looks the part and is perfect for both everyday living and entertaining. But there’s also a substantial prep kitchen and pantry, providing further space and functionality for culinary excellence, whether for the homeowner who loves to cook, or their private chef.
When a property is built from the ground up, it offers the ability to specify all the desirable household options, and the villa’s living and entertaining spaces are nothing short of spectacular. For the cinephile, there’s a climatecontrolled 12-seater cinema for the ultimate private screening experience. If you’re more into presses than popcorn, then the fully equipped home gym will allow you zero excuses for not having that Instagram fitness influencer physique. For wine connoisseurs, a 1,000-bottle climate-controlled wine room with a dedicated tasting foyer offers the perfect retreat. Yes, 1,000. Hopefully sufficient for most people’s requirements.
If you’re entertaining and things get a little hot in the kitchen(s), the marble of the lower ground floor gives way to the sandstone of the poolside and heated infinity pool. All those lengths will earn you a snack, and to the side of the patio is a dining area and outdoor kitchen, fully equipped with an

integral BBQ, rotisserie, fridge, and sink. Expansive terraces wrap the house. The upper ground floor is home to four bedroom suites, with those storm-watching views for those at the front, and access to another huge terrace. The ‘first’ floor above is home to the vast master suite, complete with private balcony and the best views in the house—not least because you get to look down at your pool and family having fun below, and the bay beyond.
Externally, the grounds have been kept simple and lowmaintenance. It’s clear that Villa Cambray has been designed with a car enthusiast in mind. Once inside your secure gated parking, it’s time to play with one of the toys that everyone who ever owned a Fisher-Price garage probably secretly wants: a car lift. The lift will allow you to drop your prized Porsche or Panda down to an elaborate underground showroom, so you can admire your metal from your wine tasting area, naturally. A passenger lift serves all levels, ensuring ease of access throughout the home and futureproofing it for mobility—so you won’t have too far to stumble to bed if you finish the bottle.
If you’re looking for an impressive new-build home that has it all, designed for premium living, it might be worth taking a drive up the hill and seeing whether you could see yourself seeing everything from Villa Cambray.

Words: Peter Seymour, The Mortgage Shop
As we move into the middle of 2025, encouraging signs suggest that Jersey’s housing market may be emerging from its recent slowdown. According to John Quemard, Chairman of the Jersey Estate Agents Association:
“The housing market seems to be improving finally, and there are positive signs of slow recovery coming through. The main driving force behind this is lower interest rates and the expectation that these may continue to drop further.
We’ve seen housing prices fall, but they appear to have stabilised. Since Easter, enquiries from both buyers and sellers have increased, and more stock is coming to market.
With appropriate pricing and more attractive lending terms, we hope the recovery will continue.”
Data from the Jersey Property Bulletin shows 78 transactions registered through the Royal Court during the first half of May. Of these, 60 were residential property sales (excluding land and family transfers), representing a clear uplift from earlier months.
Although share transfer sales are not publicly recorded, it is reasonable to assume these would add around 25% to the published figures, reinforcing the trend toward increased activity.

While interest rate movements remain difficult to forecast, the Bank of England’s recent quarter-point reduction to the base rate (now 4.25%) signalled a potential shift. However, this move has since been questioned following a less favourable update to the Cost of Living Index and the impact of new US sanctions policies.
In Jersey, mortgage rates continue to reflect a “local premium”, with fixed rates generally higher than those available to UK borrowers. For example:
Lowest UK fixed rate: 3.79%
Equivalent rate in Jersey: 4.44%
The gap persists until local lenders become more competitive or adjust their pricing strategies.
While rates are essential, the amount that lenders are prepared to offer remains a key constraint. Recent regulatory changes in the UK have prompted a modest increase in permissible income multiples, and local lenders appear to be cautiously following suit.
Affordability assessments continue to take into account all known liabilities and lifestyle expenses, including longterm debt and childcare costs.
While Jersey’s housing market is not yet in full recovery mode, there are grounds for cautious optimism. With greater availability, modest rate reductions, and improving sentiment, prospective buyers may find that now is a sensible time to revisit their property plans, provided they are well-prepared and realistic about affordability.

This is a smart, simple way to take your first step towards homeownership. Full details and terms of the scheme are available for review, and we recommend seeking independent advice before proceeding.
