About the work
The focus of these paintings is on landscape and horizons. I use the colours I find in the flora native to an area to determine my palette. I will often push the colours that are less visible to the fore to create a vibrancy to the work and an abstraction to form.
I am constantly fascinated by the mediums of both watercolour and ink. There is a degree of randomness created by water that occurs during creation which removes an element of the control I have over the final results.
Given that my natural inclination in my drawing work is towards precision, the addition of water means that I have to concede and allow the process itself to take a role in creation.
