Tips to Make You a Better Football Goalkeeper? The importance of a goalkeeper in a football game cannot be underestimated. It is the most specialized position in the sport and requires focused training. Goalkeepers are the only players who have a great view of the entire field and help their team to win the game by defending

opponents from making goals. If you’re looking to increase your skills as a goalkeeper, here are 5 tips to get you started: 1. Increase Focus: Always keep your eyes on the ball. Don’t wait until the ball gets close to the goal box. Be focused even if the football is 18 or more yards away from the box. Increase your focus and don’t be distracted by opposing players.

2. Improve diving technique: You will have to make a save by diving, but make sure you land on your side every time to prevent injury. There are a couple of great drills that

can help you master the art of diving for saving goals. Goalkeeping dives come in two main forms: ground dive and diving aerial save. Practice helps you avoid injuries. One thing that goalies need to remember while diving to save a ball is not to let their eyes wander off the ball or they will likely to miss to block the shot entirely. 3. Develop hand-eye coordination: Hand-eye coordination is extremely valuable for a

goalie. It is an imperative skill for a goalkeeper and can mean the difference between winning and losing the game. There are a couple of drills that you can practice to improve hand-eye coordination including Ball Bounce between Legs, One Hand Catch, Shuffle & Roll, Kneeling Catch, and Bounce & Catch. Make sure you wear football shin guards during games and training to avoid any injury.

4. Practice how to be in a ready position always: A goalkeeper’s movement should be

quick when the ball approaches the goal box. For that, a goalie needs to be in a balanced ready position always. Keep your feet apart while your knees and elbows are slightly

flexed. Keep your hands in front of your body and elbows away from it so that you can take immediate action as soon as the ball comes close to the football net. 5. Improve vertical jumps: One of the most important goals of goalkeepers in football is to improve their vertical jumps. If you have the ability to take a high vertical leap, then you can save those high shots. To develop better jumping skills, you should focus on improving leg and feet muscles.

The best goalkeepers practice with enthusiasm and spirit. If you’re passionate about playing a goalie in your team, then get your football shin guards and football training wear ready and
