Also known as Korite stone, Calcentine and Blackfoot, Ammolite is formed from the fossil shells of several upper Cretaceous Ammonites, including Placenticeras intercalare, Placenticeras meeki and Baculites compressus. It is typically found in the “bearpaw” formation which extends from Alberta to Saskatchewan in Canada, and occasionally as far south as Montana, USA.
