Wayanne Stewart: Ace Female Party Promoter by Ava Gardner

n Jamaica, a majority of our party promoters are male. Other than Carrie ‘Quizz’ Sigurdson of Yush, Ramona Sirju of Vivid and Kimberly Wyatt of E.V.E., we rarely hear of or see female party promoters. Well, add one more to that list. Joining this finite set of female party promoters is Wayanne Stewart. Wayanne is young and outgoing, and not only likes to have fun but is also very hardworking. It’s no surprise staging events is one of her interests. Along with her other business ventures, she has recently begun hosting parties. Teen Spirit got to have a quick one-on-one with Wayanne to learn more about this ambitious young lady.
TS: What interested you to host parties? Ws: Well I love to party and I am a social butterfly. Also, persons always approached me to invest, or to be a part of keeping parties with them.
TS: Over the weekend, you partnered and held, En Vivo, why was it called En Vivo? And, how was that party? Ws: My partner and I wanted to call the party, “Live” but, we couldn’t because of a name clash. So we decided to give it the name, but in Spanish. The party had a decent turn out, but it could have been better. The downfall was that we were targeting the university crowd, but around this time they have examinations. Despite that, all who attended said that the music and vibes was great.
TS: What other parties have you held? WS: My dad and I invested in a party called, “Minutes to Midnight” on Dec 31, 2007, but we were more behind the scenes with that party.
TS: What’s your favourite aspect of hosting parties? WS: Seeing that patrons actually enjoy themselves at the events really makes me feel like I have done my job.
TS: Is hosting parties hard? WS: Hosting parties isn’t hard, but it can be very stressful on
TS: What difficulties do you face being a female party promoter? WS: Sometimes I think because I am a female what I say is not
the day it is held. You have to pick appropriate days and also know the group of patrons you are targeting.
