Head Organisers’ Vision - Vantaa 2021 VNS21’s priority is to engage people towards a more active young Europe. We want to promote inclusivity and enable participants to explore their differences, which will be achieved through discussions between international individuals with different views and beliefs. Due to the international environment of the 6-day session, participants will be encouraged to self-develop, and by the end of the session, they will have improved their communication skills. VNS21 will be a safe and welcoming space where participants will be able to express themselves without judgement and a space that can be used as a learning environment, where we can all share knowledge and experiences. For both of us, as well as EYP Finland, participant welfare is something of high importance and will be a key priority in VNS21. We want to make sure that all participants are comfortable with all the session activities, and that physical and mental health are not neglected throughout the session. In addition, we want to maintain the typical, welcoming, judge-free, EYP environment, and we will have absolutely no tolerance for any sort of discrimination. With 2021 being EYP Finland’s 20th anniversary, our plan is to celebrate the organisation’s birthday by hosting a session during which the Finnish culture will be introduced to and embraced by national and international participants, which is why we will dedicate one of the session days to be a Culture Day. We want to apply the theme of the session even further than solely the academic output, and incorporate it into our everyday lives. Therefore, our goal is to keep VNS21’s as sustainable as possible, by maintaining our ecological footprint to a minimum, which is why the session will be vegetarian/vegan and zero-waste. All participants will be influenced and encouraged to embrace the “giving-back” mindset, and hopefully change their habits to a more sustainable lifestyle. As Head-Organisers, we aim at applying all these above mentioned values to the Leadership Team, and we invite individuals who share the same values to work with us towards creating such a session. Our aim is to have very inclusive and equal cooperation between officials’ teams, which we hope to achieve through teamwork, conversation and transparency. With your help, we can create such an environment for all session participants, and lead VNS21 to success. We look forward to your applications and hopefully welcoming you to join our VNS21 team! Best of luck, Karoliina Kondylis & Eveliina Kyllönen Head-Organisers of VNS21, Vantaa National Session of EYP Finland
