The proposed multi-million euro development will serve Donegal Town and the South of the County and will provide an economic and employment boost both during construction and then with an estimated 80 HSE staff operating from the Primary Care Centre. The plans for the Primary Care Centre include 150 car parking spaces in an extremely accessible location and it has been designed to the highest of standards. Continued on page 3
The restored spire emerges
The restoration works to the spire of the Church of Ireland are almost completed. The spire and tower began to be revealed over the weekend as the scaffolding was carefully removed and it now looks resplendent rising proud above the rooftops. Work began in April to restore the spire to its former glory after some damage was discovered to the intricate stonework. The repair works were carried out by Rainey Restoration and the whole church, spire and surrounding walls have been all cleaned and repaired. The complete works are estimated to cost around €150,000. An extensive fund raising campaign is ongoing, and a grant of €20,000 was recently received from the ‘structures at risk fund’.
