NEW BLOWN FILM LINE: SMARTFLEX 22 During the last two years, Bandera has launched the ‘Smartflex’ project. The aim of this project is to develop plants that are completely customer orientated (high production and flexibility) while simultaneously being competitively priced. The project encapsulates all of Bandera’s values: high productivity, energy saving, reliability and an excellent post-sales programme. This combination of maximum quality and competitive pricing is possible for Bandera, which is the only company among the European and American manufacturers which possesses know-how both in the rigid packaging sector and in the direct production of small, medium and large die heads for blown film. The Smartflex offer comprises two different configurations: the Smartflex 16 and the Smartflex 22. Bandera recently concluded the sale of a Smartflex 22 plant, intended for a primary transformer in South America. It is an innovative and modern line and is able to produce shrink film, lamination film and stretch hood. The plant comprises a TR 75 extruder for the central layer, two TR65 extruders for the inner and outer layers, with low energy consumption motorization, a bimetallic alloy cylinder from a main European manufacturer, manual screen changers, coextrusion side feeding head with 400mm die and an output of up to 400kg/h with LDPE 0,7. The extrusion system is completed by the gravimetric dosing system by Doteco. The cooling ring has a special multi-lip design which balances the airflow effect on the bubble: automatic thickness control managed by a PLC control. The takeoff is oscillating, with 2400mm pulling rollers, and has a flattening device made by aluminum rolls and wooden slats, inserted alternately through a pneumatic device and the gusseting device, both made of wood. These are motorized because the plant can produce both high quality flat film and gusseted tubular film. The double station winder uses the back-to-back configuration and can be wind by contact as well as by gap (an important innovation for the Smartflex line), and can produce up to 10 coils at the same time (in multicoil configuration), 5 for each station, the line also has the trimmed edge suction and cutting device, and the electronic surface treatment to make printable film. The control of the film tension is made by a highly sensitive loading cell which is digitally integrated in the PC. The coextrusion line offers interesting news in terms of electrical components: all the components are of a high quality and their assembly has been executed with complete accuracy. The extruders and the die thermoregulation is managed by module PLC, with remote I/O near the machine.
