Pilot Testing of the Draft PEFC Irish Forest Certification Standard OUTPUT REPORT CONTROL UNION CERTIFICATIONS Control Union Certifications (CU) approach in testing the standard has been to perform a normal certification inspection on each property. The results are based on 3 property inspections. One a private forest, and two [public] Coillte owned forests. A checklist was devised by CU following the Draft Standard. The checklists used during the inspection have also been submitted. Findings must be treated confidentially. Findings against each indicator are recorded under „observation on conformance‟ and where applicable, a non-conformity has been worded [although no action is proposed]. In following the brief of this pilot testing, CU have focussed on each indicator as follows: Requirement – where clarity or explanation is considered Means of Verification – identifying additional verifiers Guidance – identifying additional guidance or references For ease of reviewing findings colour coding has been used on the 3 checklists to indicate the method of how findings were obtained: Green = field inspection, Red = document inspection, Yellow = Interview/discussion. CU‟s comments, observations and recommendations, resulting from the pilot testing aim to identify where further clarification and/or more detailed drafting should be considered. The primary output „comments report‟ is detailed below. Comments are provided only against each standard indicator [sub-section] where in the opinion CU Pilot Testing - PEFC Ireland Draft Standard Comments Report 4-06-10
