Military Connectors- Historical Development & Uses The United States of America Department of Defense began using connectors as early as 1930s, which is to say that since the era of the aftermath of the of First World War and the two year prior to the commencement of The Second Word War. The connectors were used for the aeronautical as well as strategic service-related uses. These connectors and their subsequent “descendants” (as they may be humorously called), are termed as „Military Standard‟, abbreviated to „MIL-STD‟ or „MIL-SPEC‟ or even „MS‟ connectors. And its improvements and their developments have caused a rise in the number ofMilitary Connectors Suppliers in the world today.

Classification Of Military Connectors The afore-mentioned connectors can broadly be classified into the following: 1. The first type of military connecters, is termed as „Military Circular‟ Connectors or simply as „Circular Connectors‟. These connectors are basically used in military as well as aerospace and other high-reliability sectors. 2. The second is Radio Frequency or RF Military Connector. These are those which have the electromagnetic wave frequencies ranging between 20 Kilo-hertz to 300 Giga-Hertz. The Military often uses these as harassment devices that can harm human tissues and is termed as Active Denial System. 3. The third is Rectangular Military Connector, which is used for missiles and other military equipment. 4. Finally, the last type of Military Connectors is a Fiber Optic Military Connectors. These are used by the Military for a wide range of air, sea, land and space applications.
