Rarer and more expensive than diamonds- It is a common perception that diamonds are perhaps the most expensive gemstone. However, the fact is not the same. Emeralds are said to be among the rarest of all the gemstones and are highly priced. Although they are found in many places including Central and South Africa, the availability of high quality emeralds is very limited.

3. Emeralds are not always green- Although the Greek word for emerald means “green�, the gemstone varies in color. From deep green to pale green, emeralds can be found in many shades. The deepest shade of green in emeralds is considered as the most expensive. Just like a beautiful pendant necklace of emerald made with darker green emerald is highly priced than one made with pale green emerald.
