You Get Two Choices Just the other day, Troy and I were wondering how many words an average person speaks in a lifetime? So, we Googled it, and were shocked to learn that a person speaks, on average, over 860 million words in a lifetime.

Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s incredible! Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s like reading aloud the King James Version of The Bible over 1,100 times. To date, we have already spoken millions of words.

Think about this...when we speak, we get to choose the words we speak. That choice is a blessing that many times we may take for granted. What do we mean by that? Well, when we get the opportunity to share something with another person verbally, we have two choices. We can choose words to positively impact people, or we can choose words that will negatively impact people.

The choice is ours.

We are in an industry where we speak with people all the time. We have the opportunity to speak salt and light into people. With the world we live in today, many people are having less and less actual conversations with people. Because of Covid, many people are hearing most of their information from the news and internet. We all know that the news plays off of fear and negativity, and the internet is filled with cruel and hateful speech, in most cases.

Therefore, take the opportunity every time you open your mouth to speak life, love, compassion, confidence and empathy into a person. A short, simple conversation with someone, opens the door for you to easily change the path they are headed down.

You are stronger than you think!

We encourage everyone to take the time and think about the

860 million words you might speak in your lifetime. Have

you used those words wisely? How many words do we have left, and what impact do we want to make with those words?

Some of us may have used words in the past that we may need to revisit, and say additional words to mend feelings or situations.

Don’t let that opportunity slip by.

Words we say can make people feel good, or bad. There is an old saying, “It’s not the words you say that make the difference it’s how you made a person feel.” We tend to disagree with that statement.

Remember, you get to choose the words you use, so make every effort to ensure you positively impact the way they feel.

Make the choice to change the lives of others in a positive way with your words. It could be a simple compliment or an encouraging word.

We would like to share some words with you by ending with this...

Are We Heading Toward a Virtual Industry?

There has been a lot of discussion over the last couple of months as to the way real estate brokerages will look and oper-ate in the future. I personally get asked almost daily what our company position is and if I see EXIT Realty going down the virtual brokerage pathway. I can tell you, I do not foresee that as a viable option for our industry, because human inter-action is vital for growth and success.

I have spoken on this subject before. It is one of my passions to understand the difference between success and failure. When you look at the percentage of individuals in self-employment and independent contractor statuses, there is a definite trend in failure rates. It has been said that a mere 18-20 percent of individuals are self-motivated enough to hold themselves accountable and create and follow the necessary habits to succeed.

Competition is a healthy and meaningful ingredient for self-growth. Athletes perform at a higher level when they are part of a team and peer pressure motivates them to measure themselves against their opponent. Most real estate agents inherently want to be part of a healthy office environment with activity, learning and encouragement. They are inspired by group activities, much like students in school learn better in a structured environment with good leadership and accountability.

I believe we will likely see a hybrid model throughout our industry start to transform the classic brokerage model, but, ideally and most importantly, we will continue to have a safe environment where our people can assemble and work. Keep in mind the story of the wolf pack… they need each other to survive, and I believe we do as well. EXIT Realty is all about the human being and our culture is built on the foundation of our people. We appreciate all that you do for our company and we are thankful you choose to be part of our brand.

Disney puts their customers first. What does that mean?

Anything they can do to make their customers HAPPY, is what’s done. Disney listens to their audience. They live up to customers’ expectations and they leave them wanting more.

Great Storytelling is Essential.

Great brands tell great stories. You may not have a Cinderella or Elsa and Queen Anna as part of your business, but you have a story that would touch your audience and inspire them to act. Find your story, and tell it.

Don’t be afraid to Expand and Innovate.

Innovation keeps you relevant. Expansion means taking risks and seeing what it means to redefine your products while keeping them in alignment with your customers’ expectations and fulfilling what your brand stands for.

How can you continuously evolve and innovate with your brand?

Give your Audience all the feels.

When you’re able to tap into your customers’ emotions, you’ve succeeded. Find the ways to give your audience allthe-feels because that’s what will have them coming back for more of what you have to offer.

Find Ways to Add Magic!

“Magic Happens” is an actual brand campaign that Disney uses. Just consider that statement and how that shares everything we’ve talked about thus far. This campaign highlights Disney’s brand values, how it creates an unforgettable experience, giving people all-the-feels, telling a story full of magic and wonder, and featuring customers experiencing Disney. Ever watch a Disney World commercial and you’re basically crying at the end because how they masterfully share kids and families experiencing their best lives at the theme park? Adding some magic will look different for your brand than it does at Disney. You won’t necessarily have Tinkerbell who can fly around sprinkling magical fairy dust over your audience, but remember to translate how you could bring a little magic to what you provide. What’s that extra bit of sparkle or joy you can give to surprise and delight your audience?

She became a top producer in her first year! When Kathy heard Steve Morris speak at convention one year, the plan God had for her and Troy became clear....they bought the Mississippi Region! A few years later, they purchased the Alabama Region.

These types of people lead with fear, and fear is the absence of faith.

Tashia gives without the expectation of ever getting anything back. For her, the simple act of giving and serving others gives her life so much joy and meaning. She serves others because most will not. She leads by example with the absolute conviction to inspire others to do the same. She believes that selflessly serving others is contagious, and for those who are exposed to its infinite power find it virtually impossible not to grow from it and ultimately pass it on others.

James Marble of EXIT Coastal Gateway Realty is thrilled to be a sponsor of the Diamondhead Festival & BBQ Competition this year. It is the 2nd year for this community event that provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy! There is plenty of food, drinks, music, vendors, and a kids zone.

The BBQ competition brings teams for multiple states, and they are cooking ribs, chicken, pork and brisket trying to win the Grand Champion trophy. Frustrated vs Fascinated Looking back, it is hard to find a time when things have been more frustrating. The most useless thing I’ve purchased for 2020 was my calendar/planner. First the virus, then the shutdown and the economic damage created by all of that, then throw in a presidential election and I am completely frustrated.

Years ago, I was at Jimmy’s, a restaurant in Beverly Hills, having dinner with Jim Rohn. That’s right, Jim Rohn. It was the deal he made me for some personal coaching - a private meeting with him once each month - and Jim made sure the check stung a bit. We were going through some issues I wanted to cover when he stopped me to say, “Bob, I have heard you say that you were frustrated several times tonight. May I give you a thought?”

He then began by teaching me that the term frustrated - the feeling of frustration, the state of frustration nearly always creates tension, anger, and negative feelings. He asked this question, “Why don’t you try replacing the word frustrated with fascinated?” and continued by illustrating the different emotional experience triggered by being frustrated versus being fascinated about something.

I didn’t get it. “Traffic frustrates me, Jim. Obstinate people frustrate me, Jim…” and off I went. After a long pause, Jim said, “Your reaction is fascinating to me, Bob. Seeing the things that upset you, things that you have no control over at all, fascinates me.” I finally began to see that most things I was upset about were truly out of my control and the best I could do was to choose how I would react to them. “Man, this traffic is fascinating. Notice how predictable it is at certain times and routes. There may be a better route I could take at a different time. I bet that would make a difference. Besides, I am enjoying this music.” Fascinating, huh?

“The difference,” Jim said, “is real control. Don’t give control of your emotions to someone else or a situation.”

It began to become clear that of the things frustrating me, most of them were things over which I had no control.

However, the good news was this: With all of them, I could adjust my thinking about how I chose to react to them.

For example: Instead of, “I am frustrated that I am not making enough money.” Try, “I am really fascinated that I have been stuck at this income for two years. In that two years, I could have changed jobs and/or taken some additional training, because I know I will always earn exactly the amount of money equitable to the value I am bringing to the marketplace. I get paid exactly what I am worth.”

Real estate professionals always want to earn more money. It is fascinating to me to know we all want more money, yet we watch frustrated individuals not attending training and never hiring a coach. Many are not setting goals or using all the tools available in EXIT’s Resource Center. If there are things in your life that are frustrating you, try to become really fascinated by one, then apply creative emotion to it. You may quickly begin to see things you can do to turn it around.
