Village Information Booklet
Welcome to the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine (SDGM) Village.
This information booklet, known as the “Village Rules”, contains rules and regulations that are necessary to ensure such a large number of people are able to live together in harmony. AngloGold Ashanti reserves the right to amend the Village Rules at any time.
AngloGold Ashanti established the Village in 1997 for personnel engaged at SDGM. The Village currently has 799 rooms. It contains a cluster of “donga” accommodation units with shared ablutions, known as North Star, a block of share bathroom units called Dingo Flats, the Manager’s block named Southern Cross and the main sequence of en-suite rooms on Lizard Loop, Brumby Boulevard, Wedgetail Walk, Rosella Rise, Gekko Grove, Termite Track, Emu Flats and Camel Camp.
The Village Manager is accountable for services in the Village and to ensure that the Village Rules are adhered to. Residents shall at all times observe and comply with the Village Rules.
AngloGold Ashanti and ESS take pride in the standard maintained at the SDGM Village. Some things may not suit you, or may not be what you are used to. From time to time you may have a complaint about food, noise, cleaning etc. We invite constructive criticism, so that we can continue to improve the services provided. You can communicate your suggestions by filling out the Customer Feedback Forms found in the Dining Room (Bindah Bistro) or the Tavern (Lion’s Den).
Please consider that over 700 people reside at SDGM, all with different backgrounds, needs, wants and priorities that aren’t necessarily the same as yours. Everyone has to be catered for. In recent times we have made many improvements to the facilities, and continue to review and improve where practical.
We hope you can join AngloGold Ashanti and ESS to help us maintain our standing in the mining industry.
