Exchange Theatre is a bilingual cultural organisation founded in 2006 by International French-speaking artists David Furlong, Mauritian actor and director, and Fanny Dulin, French actress and producer. Initially we have been researching translations and reviving major plays from French-speaking theatrical background, seldom seen in England: Sartre, Feydeau, Molière... Moreover, we perpetuate an international vision of culture crossing borders and we are now actively engaging a multilingual, multicultural and diverse audience in all respects. The latest productions of Moliere plays for a 21st century, performed alternately in French and English with a bilingual cast, was nominated for 3 Off West End awards: Best Production, Best Director and Best Video design. Exchange Theatre offers a unique cultural hub for an ongoing exchange between Britain and Europe, Anglophone and Francophone, under threats from Brexit. We are based in our own rehearsal/office premises in London Bridge. Exchange Theatre is now becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation to reach beyond its current niche. The current five-year plan includes bringing our productions to the whole UK, delivering more community workshops to teach language to schools, to develop an international outreach in programming and partnerships and to employ minorities and diverse staff to work on the growth of the organisation. We are looking to recruit several board members to work with us in a voluntary capacity, with the skills, knowledge and dynamism to join our first board of trustees in this exciting period of development and challenges. In particular, we are looking for individuals with understanding and experience in the fields of culture and performing arts, community or participative arts, corporate partnerships with the arts, management of a growing small-to medium-scale organisation, laws and regulations, to complement and develop the collective knowledge and skills in our board of trustees and to support our executive team. You will demonstrate a strong and visible passion for international cultures, a comprehension of the Francophone world culture, as well as knowledge and understanding of the current issues affecting Europe, the arts, education and community sectors in the UK and London. Non-British European profiles or diverse ethnicity welcome.
