Oracy, or a lack of it, can affect social mobility.

Confidence is critical to succeeding in their life and career.

Full school uniform and smart appearance

● No jewellery is permitted, except for a single/pair of small, plain, round gold or silver stud earrings in the ear lobe

● No smartwatches

● No mobile phones

● Trousers must not be worn below the waist

● Skirts must not be rolled up

● Hair must be tied back if it falls below the shoulders

● Hair must be the student’s natural colour

● Bows are not allowed in the hair. A simple hair/headband to keep hair off the face must be black or dark blue

● Hair should not fall below the eyebrow

● Logos are not allowed on socks

● Outdoor coats are not allowed in the building and must be black or dark blue. Logos are not allowed

● Shoes must be flat and plain black with laces.(flat pumps/boots and trainers are not allowed)

Extra curricular activities

Friday 12.10pm

All Year 7 students must choose a Friday extra curricular club to join

At least 3 visits to the club must happen every half term

The passport must be stamped to show attendance took place

A new club can then be chosen for the next half term

SCHOOL CLUBS

Attendance and Punctuality

In order to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure the health and safety of all students, all parents/carers should understand that:

● Students are expected to attend school every day of the academic year - top priority

● Students are expected to be punctual every day - lunch detention if late

● You must phone the absence line on 0207 275 1546 between 7.30am and 8.00am for all absences or by e-mailing absent@excelsiorcst.org

● Change of address and/or phone numbers? Email mail@excelsiorcst.org

● Proof of absences can be emailed or brought into school

● All medical appointments should be out of school hours

● Students MUST be taken to appointments by a parent or carer

● Year 7 Students are required to be in school no later than 8.15am via Shacklewell Lane

Your GCSE, your choice 2024 - 2028

At The Excelsior Academy, your child has the option to choose which language they will study to GCSE. They will study the same language from Year 7 to Year 11. Your child can choose either:

● All of our languages are taught with the newcomer/beginner learner in mind.

● You do not need prior knowledge or to have studied Spanish, Arabic or Chinese in KS2.

● Please note that your child will continue with their chosen language to Year 11.

Transition Day for all new Year 7 students

4th July 9.00am- 2.00pm

Students will have an opportunity to:

● Start to build a community with their fellow peers

● Start to learn teachers’ names

● Demonstrate politeness

● Familiarise themselves with their new school environment

● Start to shine brightly. Start to break the glass ceiling. Start to believe.
