EXAM RESULTS FROM 2024
The school has been celebrating the amazing achievements of this year’s GCSE and A Level students. The hard work, commitment and determination of our students paid off for them in style and the figures demonstrated in the tables below showcase the incredible journey that our school and its students have been on over the last few years We are incredibly proud of all of our GCSE and A Level students as they embark on the next stage of their educational journey
NEW YEAR, NEW STUDENTS
A warm welcome to our new Year 7 students! They have had a great start to the year and we are excited to support them throughout their secondary school journey
We launched our Achievement Passport programme this year. This initiative is designed to encourage and celebrate our students’ accomplishments both academically and personally throughout the year. As students collect stickers in their passports, they will be eligible for various awards, culminating in special recognition clubs.
The students have also demonstrated a commitment to our new school mantra: Our school Mantra
‘Today and every day, I vow to be one with excellence I will maintain a composed demeanour and an inquisitive mind I will aspire to be my best, first time, every time. My teachers’s words are gold dust so every second counts. I will have an attitude of gratitude. It is normal at Excelsior, it is who we are, it is what we do.”
YEAR 6 OPEN EVENING
It was wonderful to welcome so many prospective students and their families to our Open Evening, showcasing the very best that The Excelsior Academy has to offer its students. Feedback was extremely positive, and the event was a great success.
Y11 PARENTS’ INFORMATION EVENING
It was great to see so many parents at our Year 11 Parents’ Information Evening recently. The evening is important because it outlines the key focus and priorities for the students’ Year 11 studies and making preparations for their GCSE exams at the end of the year. Key staff also outlined what parents can do to support their children’s work both at school and at home and we were able to answer queries and questions at the end of the session. If you were not able to attend the event on the night, the slides that accompanied the event are available on our website and we would encourage you to go through them with your child and contact your child’s head of learning or student manager if you have any questions or concerns.
APPLE APPS AND EXCELSIOR STUDENTS
Y10 and Y12 students recently attended a software and design academy with Apple at their London headquarters. Students spent two days working alongside Apple employees to develop their own app in response to a client brief - what a great skills development experience!
WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS FOR YEAR 13?
The University of Hertfordshire recently came to school to deliver a Year 13 assembly sharing advice and guidance about choosing the right university and course for study beyond sixth form. This will be an important decision for our young people and our dedicated sixth form staff will be supporting them all the way to ensure that they achieve their post-secondary school goals and aspirations.
