PLAN AHEAD

Before you go out, consider how you are going to get home, e.g. Can you travel home with a friend?

Prepare for your day before you leave – consider what you might need.

Update parents on your plans.

Plan your journey, how are you getting home? Walking, Buses, Trains, Overground.

Make a note of the IMEI number for your phone – this can be accessed by dialling *#06# . If your phone gets stolen, if you provided us with this number, if police stops someone with a phone that matches your IMEI number , we might be able to return this to you.

TRAVEL TO HOME

Try to use well-lit, busy streetsand use the route you know best. Plan your route before you set off.

Avoid higher risk areas. – Places where you have been told someone has been robbed.

If you think you are being followed, trust your instincts and take action. As confidently as you can, cross the road, turning to see who is behind you. If you are still being followed, keep moving. Head to a busy area and tell people what is happening. If necessary, call the police.

Make sure you get to where you need to get, please do not hang around in places as this can increase the likelihood you will be targeted later when walking on your own. Okay

REMAIN AWARE

Be aware when using cash point machines. If there are signs of tampering or people acting suspiciously, do not use it.

Try not to keep all your valuables in one place It’s a good idea to keep valuables such as wallets in an inside pocket and separate small amount of cash or a bankcard from your main purse/wallet.

Consider not walking with your phone in your hand, this will make you a target. You can use your phone in safe places, like your home or in shops.

Consider not having your music loud when wearing your headphones This might cause you not being fully aware of sounds around you.
