Dundee Age Concern Fiveways Day Centre A local charity operating in Dundee since 1947 Age Concern Dundee is for everyone growing older is a part of life. Age Concern Dundee provides support, care, information, learning opportunities, leisure activities and support services for older people in and around Dundee. Age Concern Dundee (ACD) is an independent, local charity which has existed in the city for over 65 years in one form or another, having originally been founded in 1947. We currently have two day care centres in the city, one at Fiveways and one in Broughty Ferry, each of which has been a focal point and a haven throughout the years for older and often vulnerable people in the community. Our day care provision is for older people, many of whom would be socially isolated without access to our services. Established in 1947, the organisation originally catered for people in their sixties and seventies but as people in this age group are now fitter and healthier (and often now enjoying extreme sports!), most of our clients are older and increasing numbers of our clients are living with dementia.

CONCERN In the two centres themselves we offer regular entertainment, outings, activities, Bingo, gentle exercise sessions, musical entertainment, quizzes, delicious lunches and afternoon teas and always a warm welcome. Clients arrive looking forward to a day of companionship and conversation around the programme of activities and they depart with smiles and cheery quips. This guide gives some details of our services and activities. Whether you are an older person yourself, a friend or a family member, a professional working with older people, or a potential volunteer, we hope you are able join us on an enjoyable life together. Support Us Board Member: Dundee Age Concern(DAC)is a small, independent local charity which is seeking to consolidate and strengthen the ability of the directors to oversee the governance of the organisation. The charity has been in existence for 70 years. DAC provide a day centre service for older people and, consequently, are keen to attract volunteers who may have knowledge and expertise in, amongst other skills, health and social care, buildings maintenance and finance administration. The day centre has recently registered as a support service with the Care Inspectorate and this factor, added to planned changes to organisational management arrangements, means that potential directors would be able to contribute to the continued development of a well-regarded charity in the city of Dundee. If you are interested contact the Manager 01382-825624 Friends of Dundee Age Concern: A group dedicated to supporting the work of Dundee Age Concern by engaging in activities and planning events. Volunteers: Volunteers are actively involved in supporting the day to day work of the day centre. For detailed information contact the Manager 01382-825624 Donations and Fundraising: Dundee Age Concern, an entirely self-funding charity, relies on donations and regular fundraising activities to support it’s work. We offer a service to vulnerable older people from across the city and Broughty Ferry area and hope to continue to gain the support of local businesses and trusts. Without such support we would be unable to offer our service. If you feel you can contribute please contact the Manager 01382-825624
