Γυναικεία πρόσωπαεικόνες του καιρού μας

Οι εικόνες του Σάββα Γεωργιάδη εντυπώνονται ανεξίτηλα στη μνήμη. Τον προσέξαμε από την πρώτη εμφάνισή του στην Αίθουσα Τέχνης Αθηνών (2002). Η αλησμόνητη Μαριλένα Λιακοπούλου, με το βλέμμα γυμνασμένο παιδιόθεν στην καλή ζωγραφική, δεν μπορούσε να μείνει αδιάφορη μπροστά σ’ αυτό το «αδίστακτο» ταλέντο. Ζυγίζω τη λέξη: «αδίστακτο», γιατί από την πρώτη στιγμή τόλμησε να αναμετρηθεί με την πιο μεγάλη πρόκληση: την προσωπογραφία, την ανώτερη μορφή ζωγραφικής, σύμφωνα με τα θεωρητικά κείμενα της Αναγέννησης. Το πεδίο είναι πράγματι ναρκοθετημένο από αξεπέραστα πρότυπα, ιδιαίτερα μάλιστα αν ο καλλιτέχνης επιλέξει μια μορφή ρεαλισμού, όπως έκανε ο Σάββας Γεωργιάδης. Είναι σήμερα εφικτός και αποδεκτός ένας ρεαλισμός στη ζωγραφική; Ναι, θα απαντούσα απροκάλυπτα, εφόσον δεχτούμε αυτό που θεωρείται αυτονόητο από τη σύγχρονη ψυχολογία της αντίληψης: το ανθρώπινο βλέμμα και οι εικόνες που θησαυρίζει δεν αποτελούν αντικατοπτρισμό του κόσμου, αλλά πολιτιστικά προϊόντα. Αν το πνεύμα του καλλιτέχνη παραμένει ανοικτό και άγρυπνο σε όσα συμβαίνουν γύρω του, τότε ο ρεαλισμός που προτείνει μπορεί να είναι όχι απλά πρωτότυπος αλλά και αποκαλυπτικός. Αυτό ακριβώς συμβαίνει με το βλέμμα και τη ζωγραφική του Σάββα Γεωργιάδη. Είναι φανερό ότι ο νέος καλλιτέχνης εξερευνά σε πρώτη φάση τα πρόσωπά του με τη βοήθεια του φωτογραφικού φακού. Δεν είναι φυσικά ούτε ο πρώτος ούτε ο τελευταίος καλλιτέχνης που γοητεύεται από την άλλη όραση που προτείνει ο φωτογραφικός φακός. Από την πρώτη στιγμή που επινοήθηκε το νέο μέσο της μηχανικής αποτύπωσης της πραγματικότητας, καλλιτέχνες όπως ο Ντελακρουά, ο Κουρμπέ και αργότερα ο Μανέ εμπνεύστηκαν μερικά από τα πιο «ζωγραφικά» τους έργα από φωτογραφίες. Άλλωστε, στον εικοστό αιώνα η φωτογραφία διαδραμάτισε πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο σε κινήματα όπως η Ποπ-αρτ ή ο φωτογραφικός ρεαλισμός (Υπερεαλισμός). Ο Σάββας Γεωργιάδης καλλιεργεί τη δική του προνομιακή σχέση με τη φωτογραφία. Ο φακός ταυτίζεται με το βλέμμα του καλλιτέχνη, βυθίζεται στα πρόσωπα, κατά κανόνα νεανικά και γυναικεία, με αβυσσαλέα κοντινά πλάνα και ενίοτε με παραμορφωτικές παρεμβάσεις. Ακολουθεί η επίπονη διαδικασία της ζωγραφικής μεταμόρφωσης. Η φωτογραφική εικόνα, η θανατογραφία, όπως την αποκαλεί ο Ρολάν Μπαρτ, οφείλει, με τη βοήθεια της ζωγραφικής αλχημείας, να μεταστοιχειωθεί, περνώντας από τη χρονική τομή του φωτογραφικού

στιγμιότυπου στη συμπύκνωση του χρόνου, στη διάρκεια, που αποτελεί το ιερό άβατο της αληθινής καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας. Το διαβατήριο γι’ αυτό το κρίσιμο άλμα είναι, όχι μόνο η τεχνική αρτιότητα, αλλά και ο βαθύτερος εκφραστικός σκοπός αυτού του προορισμού. Τι αναζητεί ο καλλιτέχνης στα υπερμεγέθη γυναικεία πρόσωπα που μας ατενίζουν μέσα από τους πίνακές του με υπνωτιστική διαύγεια; Πρόκειται για νέες σύγχρονες γυναίκες, για νέα κορίτσια, με εκρηκτική ζωτικότητα και κρουστό ροδαλό δέρμα, που ο έμπειρος χρωστήρας του Γεωργιάδη ξέρει να μεταφράζει ζωγραφικά με απτική αληθοφάνεια. Την βαθιά γνώση των νόμων της ζωγραφικής ο νέος καλλιτέχνης την κατέκτησε χάρις στη γόνιμη μαθητεία του πλάι σ’ ένα φωτισμένο Δάσκαλο, τον Δημήτρη Μυταρά, και δεν έπαψε να την επαληθεύει αδιάκοπα πάνω στους μεγάλους «συγγενείς» δημιουργούς, παλαιότερους και νεότερους, από τον Γκρέκο και τον Βελάσκεθ ως τον Λούσιαν Φρόυντ και τον Φράνσις Μπαίηκον. Η επιστροφή στην παραστατική ζωγραφική ευνοήθηκε εκείνη τη συγκεκριμένη χρονική στιγμή (1970-1990) όχι μόνο από τη διεθνή συγκυρία αλλά και από την παρουσία στην ΑΣΚΤ μεγάλων δασκάλων. Οι μαθητές τους -η γενιά του ’80 και του ’90ανανέωσαν με δυναμικό και σύγχρονο τρόπο τη μακρά παράδοση της εικονιστικής τέχνης στον τόπο μας. Η προσεκτική ανάγνωση, ωστόσο, της ζωγραφικής του καλλιτέχνη, πέρα από την εντύπωση που προκαλεί η σπάνια τεχνική της εντέλεια, μας αποκαλύπτει τον πλούσιο στοχαστικό της χαρακτήρα. Η γοητεία της νιότης, το λαμπερό βλέμμα, ο αδέξιος ναρκισσισμός του μακιγιάζ, υπερτονισμένου για λόγους εκφραστικούς, δεν καταφέρνουν να κρύψουν την αληθινή πρόθεση του ζωγράφου: να ξεκλειδώσει την προσωπικότητα του μοντέλου, τις αγωνίες, τις απορίες, τα ερωτήματα, που λανθάνουν πίσω από μια φαινομενική ζωική υπερβολή. Μια αδιόρατη μελαγχολία σφραγίζει τα ευαίσθητα νεανικά πρόσωπα, μια μελαγχολία που μοιάζει να σηματοδοτεί το τέλος της αθωότητάς τους. Είναι φανερό ότι ο Σάββας δεν επιλέγει τυχαία τα μοντέλα του. Τα έργα του εκφράζουν σεβασμό, αγάπη και θαυμασμό προς το γυναικείο φύλο και μια προσήλωση στην ομορφιά ασυνήθιστη στην τέχνη του καιρού μας. Τα γυναικεία πρόσωπα του Γεωργιάδη κατακλύζουν τον καμβά απειλώντας να διαρρήξουν τα όριά του, σαν να αγωνίζονται απεγνωσμένα να αποδράσουν από τη ζωγραφική επιφάνεια ακυρώνοντας έτσι τη μοναξιά τους. Τόσο ο ζωγράφος όσο και τα μοντέλα του υποδηλώνουν μια σφοδρή ανάγκη επικοινωνίας με τον θεατή. Και πράγματι οι ηρωίδες της καθημερινότητας που πρωταγωνιστούν στους πίνακες του Σάββα Γεωργιάδη εντυπώνονται με τόση δύναμη στη μνήμη του θεατή που γίνονται οικείοι και παντοτινοί ένοικοι του φανταστικού του μουσείου, εκπληρώνοντας έτσι, όχι μόνο την επιθυμία του ζωγράφου, αλλά και έναν από τους πανάρχαιους σκοπούς της τέχνης. Επιστρέφοντας δύο χρόνια μετά στο εργαστήριο του Σάββα Γεωργιάδη, συναντώ έναν ερμητικό τόπο σιωπηλής προσευχής. Οι παράδοξες ιστορίες αλλόκοτης ανθρώπινης ύπαρξης, τα ηλεκτροφόρα χρώματα των ρευστών αισθημάτων, τα πειθήνια σώματα των νεαρών μοντέλων, οι υβριδικές επιμείξεις οικείων φίλων και ανοίκειων αγνώστων επισκεπτών του κυβερνοχώρου που κατοίκησαν τους ρωμαλέους καμβάδες των περασμένων ετών, δεν κατοικούν πια εδώ. Η γυμνή και απέριττη τελειότητα της βουβής μυθικής ταινίας του Πάθους της Jeanne d’Arc του Carl Dreyer, που γυρισμένη στο Παρίσι, λογοκρίθηκε όπως σημειώνει ο Adam Harvey αμέσως μετά την πρώτη προβολή της το 1928 και κάηκε δύο φορές προτού ανακαλυφθεί εκ νέου σε μια ψυχιατρική κλινική στο Όσλο το 1981, δεν αποτελεί διαδοχή και αφήγηση των ιστορικών γεγονότων που σχετίζονται με τη μυθιστορηματική ζωή και τον βίαιο θάνατο της ηρωίδας στην πυρά, αλλά, υφαίνοντας έναν πυκνό εικονιστικό καμβά κατάστικτο από σύμβολα και αναφορές στον Γαλλικό εθνικισμό, τον τιμωρητικό φανατισμό της θρησκείας και το φεμινιστικό κίνημα, εστιάζει με τρόπο δραματικό στην ημέρα της δίκης της. Αν το έργο του Dreyer, αφηγούμενο τον μυστικιστικό θρίαμβο της ψυχής επάνω στη ζοφερή επίγεια ζωή και τη φθαρτή ύλη, ορίζει έναν μεταφυσικό μη-τόπο μέσα στον οποίο έχει ήδη εισέλθει με τη θέλησή της η ηρωίδα του, ο Σάββας Γεωργιάδης σχεδιάζει για τις δικές του γυναίκες έναν άχραντο αρχετυπικό χώρο, κατοικημένο από τις ίδιες με τον τρόπο που ένα εκκλησιαστικό τέμπλο κατοικείται από τις ιερές εικόνες του. Σε αυτά τα υπερμεγέθη έργα που ξεκίνησαν σαν ξόρκια μοναξιάς ενός νέου φοιτητή της ΑΣΚΤ το 2002, χωρίς πρόθεση ενότητας, το ευφράδες ασπρόμαυρο εναγκαλίζεται με τα

Τα στόματα λερωμένα και χωρίς όρια, χιλιοφιλημένα και σαγηνευτικά κόκκινα, μένουν μισάνοιχτα για σιωπή και συγχώρεση. Τα λόγια, βουβά, εισχωρούν στο κασελάκι των όσων διασώθηκαν, ακολουθούν ως το έρεβος μία περιπλανώμενη Θεία Λειτουργία, τρέπονται σε ακοίμητο μικρό φως στο αυτοσχέδιο εικονοστάσι της μνήμης. Εξερευνώντας τη θηλυκή φύση του οικείου του σύμπαντος, ορθώνοντας μπροστά μας με γενναιότητα τα πεδία, τις σημάνσεις, τις περιπέτειες και τις αδυναμίες των μύθων του, ο Σάββας Γεωργιάδης αφήνει τις γυναίκες του να εξομολογηθούν στον καθένα μας κάτι διαφορετικό. Στους αβέβαιους ετούτους καιρούς μιας αποδημητικής και εύθραστης ανθρωπότητας που δυσκολεύεται να πιστέψει στο παρεμβατικό θείο, ετούτο που ανέλπιστα μένει, είναι η πίστη στον άνθρωπο.
