II ACT Scene 2. In search of Kitri, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza come across a gypsy camp. The gypsies offer them hospitability and accommodation for the night. Scene 3. In a dream, Don Quixote sees Amor and the queen of the sylvan fairies, showing him Dulcinea “the lady of his heart” in the semblance of Kitri. The knight watches the dance of the beautiful Duclinea. Scene 4. Kitri and Basilio are celebrating in the inn. Lorenzo, Gamache and Sancho Panza come barging inn. The inn keeper immediately wants to announce the engagement between Kitri and Gamache. However, Basilio deceitfully acts out that he has committed suicide. Kitri desperately starts crying over the motionless body of her lover. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza grumble and protest to Lorenzo that he is too heavy. They chase the tedious Idalgo away and force Lorenzo, threatening him with weapons, to agree to the marriage between Kitri and Basilio. Basil springs to life as he no longer needs to pretend that he is "mortally wounded”. General merriment starts and Don Quixote and Sancho Panza leave the inn. Scene 5. An all-round celebration starts at Kitri’s and Basilio’s wedding. “The Famous Knight” is an honorary guest at the joyous event. During the marriage, the two fighters for justice and freedom leave the festivities, yearning for more "endeavours”.
