Editor “I am at my happiest at my busiest�

W

ith no idea of where to start following probably the most hectic and progressive period of EM history thus far I will start by saying... and relax!

Well, if I knew what that meant, I would do it immediately. But if I were to take my eye off the ball even for a second, might I miss something? I find nothing more rewarding than to see the fruits of my labour evolve into days with too few hours and nights of broken sleep thinking about my crazy workload. But to me that is achievement.

Yes I am totally exhausted, but for all the right reasons.

I am at my happiest at my busiest with new and creative projects driving me forwards.

October 2014 saw the official launch of the Every Model Group (EMG) which now looks after our individual divisions. We have instigated a World first for models by writing and creating a model apprenticeship program. I am delighted to say that on the

books of our new EM Booking Boutique are a number of extremely talented models we are working with to develop and launch their career. Our model management division (EMM) is busy signing models with approved agents we see as being able to provide the best platform for their ability. Our signed models are busy regularly casting and being selected for fabulous modelling work.

EM Magazine is thriving and constantly providing opportunities for all associated models and industry professionals to enhance, grow and improve.

The EM Modelling Apprenticeship Program never insists upon weight loss, a change of lifestyle, an expected move to a city, or any other wrongly considered ‘only option’ that models are so often convinced of.

The EM Modelling Apprenticeship Program protects models and clients within the envelope of experience, wisdom, honesty and integrity.

The EM Modelling Apprenticeship Program provides aspiring models with paid work based experience whilst being trained and developed by experienced industry professionals.

The brainchild of this innovative platform for aspiring models is international model expert Cheryl Hughes, founder of the hugely successful agency, Hughes Models.

Looking for a new challenge to benefit the industry Cheryl has joined forces with Ruth Deane, former model and Editor of well established EM Magazine, the UK’s modelling industry publication.

Together they boast over 50 years of combined experience, a strong set of ethics, standards and a mutual desire to nurture and develop potential supermodels before launching them into a successful career.

The modelling apprenticeship program is managed by EM Booking Boutique which operates a personal, exclusive and ‘appointment only’ system for models and clients.

The Boutique is NOT an agency but a pathway for aspiring models to learn and develop skills within a work placement environment at the same time as receiving training with no financial outlay.

Apprentice models are carefully selected with only the very best chosen for the EM apprenticeship program.

Once signed to the boutique as a registered apprentice

they are presented for modelling work via a nurtured environment.

There is NO FEE charged by the boutique to sign and provide the apprenticeship.

Apprentice models are presented to clients in the formative stages of their career in order to gain the all important ‘experience' required to progress. The benefit to the apprentice model is to gain valuable knowledge

Whilst placing experienced signed models with high end agents is an element of `Every Model Management', part of the ‘Every Model’ group, the number of suitable organisations considered by them is now minimal. A significant over charging of fees, commissions and lack of personal consideration is once again becoming rife even within what may be considered the 'higher end' of the business. This has to stop!

EM Booking Boutique allows the inexperienced and aspiring model to progress within their chosen career safely, correctly, with care and individual consideration at the same time as allowing the spread of their wings, without harm or neglect.

It is sad to say that model scams continue, people remain dishonest and vulnerable people are taken advantage of.

After 6 months of searching across the nation for six models to be signed with top agents in the UK, the EMG model search finale came to it’s conclusion on November 8th at DSTRKT, London.

ith a final 30 models selected from thousands of entries to the EMG model search, it was now up to the judges and agents to decide who would win an ultimate signing.

Walking the floodlit catwalk at this prestigous and award winning venue in Central London were our nervous, but excited finalists.

Backstage our crew including the stunning Emily and Bran prepared themselves to cue each model to walk onto the stage with confidence. DJ Kev Wise worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition of upbeat tracks for the girls to command their routine to.

Sitting in the VIP booths were the judges including Every Model Magazine

Karen and Krystal Karmody, Terry Barratt and Alan Strutt.

They were joined by agents; Maxine of Model Union, Efi of Hughes Models, Elle of IMM, Ruth of Ugly Models and Anna from ModelZed. Opening the show and our finale presenter was the gorgeous Holly Finlay. Giving her complete dedication to the event we thank Holly for her hard work. She truly is a superstar in the making.

After walking the runway wearing a simple yet effective ‘model casting’ outfit of skinny jeans and white vest tops the girls quickly changed into swimwear for a further display of every model genre.

Curves, beauty, quirks and high fashion were included for the audience to watch and

learn of the diversity that this industry truly does consist of.

Swimsuits, bikinis, sarongs and accessories donned the stage and glittered under the lights.

Giving the girls a chance to take a breath saw singer songwriter Nathassia Devine take to the stage to perfom.

The beautiful half Dutch, half Indian emanates a rare and mesmeric quality. Her music brings together Eastern and Western cultures in spellbinding style. We thank her and her band for their show stopping performance.

After a period of deliberation by the judges the finalists next wore an outfit they felt said something about them. We saw everything from pencil skirts to a Downton Abbey-esque floor length

dress, with accompanying bonnet! Figure flattering styles and fashion conscious fabrics lit up the stage and faces amongst the crowd.

With names of chosen winners in need of being decided, the judges were left to decide the fate of six lucky ladies all waiting backstage.

It was then over to Ruthie Deane to invite the industry professionals on stage to present their chosen winners with the prize of a lifetime.

Firstly we would like to say a huge congratulations to all our finalists who presented themselves with grace, dignity and natural beauty. We would like to thank them for their teamwork, professionalism, fantastic enthusiasm and support for each other and

indeed for the winning lineup.

We pride ourselves at EMG on our encouragement of impeccable model behaviour, high standards and good manners. Without question our selection panel over the last few months sought the best of the best and this was demonstrated by every one of the finalists at the event. Thank you.

Stunning model Emily Darnley visited London Fashion Week September 2014 as part of the EM Magazine crew. Take a look at the real LFW with some shots taken by Emily in situ working alongside the team at Toni & Guy. This page features Dora Abodi, based on classic 70s cuts using black wigs shaped to every models face. They used a 'wet look' effect and the shapes can be worn and adapted, with or without a wet application. Dora was so lovely and the looks were quite harsh and featured a lot of metallics.

Introducing our wonderful model winner, Frankie. Nobody could have been more surprised at her win than her! A definite shock, but more endearing was the humble, refreshingly unassuming and genuine gratitude she has demonstrated in receiving it.

After first entering the EMG model search I was invited to a model training and selection day. That was great fun, we all learnt a lot and I was thrilled to receive a follow up call to say that I had made it through to the final round of the competition.

I am currently studying Philosophy at Newcastle University. Modelling has always been something that has interested me and now I am being given the opportunity I am so grateful.

I had no expectation of ever winning the competition, I mean who does? Since then my life has taken quite a dramatic turn, a good but very hectic one.

Travelling to London from Newcastle and back in eight hours, receiving a million messages from my manager each day, suddenly having to actually use my twitter account properly and not just to follow accounts like 'whitegirlproblems' and juggle being in a musical and obviously my studies at university, all at the same time. It's been a whirlwind, but it's been an eye opening and exciting one.

The competition itself was a lot of fun. Meeting all the girls was great too because everyone was so diverse.

People were from completely different backgrounds and

places. I walked down the catwalk with fellow finalist, Hannah. We quickly became friendly and I really enjoyed having her up there with me as it settled my nerves, but only a little bit!

Walking down a catwalk for the first time is nerve wracking especially in a bikini, but after the show had ended, I wanted to get back up there and do it all again.

“When they were announcing all the prizes the winner would receive before they mentioned the winning girl I didn’t even hear anything because I was so anxious to find out who had won�.

And that brings me to the results. I was SO nervous.

When they called out my name I started looking

around thinking there must be another Frankie. Then, when I realised it was me I gave my, now manager, the biggest hug, looking back I think I almost suffocated her, but at the time I was completely oblivious, I felt euphoric! I was so stunned but so, so happy.

The winners shoot with photographer Alan Strutt in London, was a lot of fun and very much a learning experience. Once we were shooting, Fay Hill and Alan instructed me on how I can use my face to create different looks and expressions. It's startling to see how such a small change of expression can create a different look entirely. Shooting all the different outfits was a lot of fun as this meant my hair and make up was altered for the look so I ended up with a variety of different looks which was great.

I now have a professional model card, some amazing images, loads of fabulous prizes, a signing with EMM and a modelling career development pathway with them. I am very much looking forward to the next stage and learning more about this exciting industry.

I would like to also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me, to all the prize sponsors and for my amazing gifts. Thank you and see you in the next edition of EM Magazine.

Hats, dark lips and glitzy nails have been named as the top winter looks of the year.

The experts at online hair and beauty retailer Hairtrade share their seven favourite looks this winter as we venture into the colder months.

Hairtrade.com says “Winter is here and there are some gorgeous looks this year which are really easy to achieve.

HATS Everyone loves to wear a hat in Winter and one guaranteed to keep you warm and fashionable at the same time is the fedora hat. Sported by the likes of Kendall Jenner, Binky Felstead and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, the fedora hat paired with a set of long locks is a great look.

If your hair is short then don’t panic. Celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Fearne Cotton have also pulled off the winter hat look with above the shoulder length hair.

DARK LIPS

WAVED LOCKS This winter is all about waved locks. The effortless look can be recreated with the help of a simple curling wand and a spritz of firm hairspray.

Short hair? There’s no reason why you can’t create curls, use the tong and run your fingers through to create soft waves.

With the festive season also comes Christmas parties, and no better look than a dramatic smokey eye. Seeing as it’s also Christmas, we can get away with glamming it up by adding a gold tint either on the eyelid or on the lower lash line.

Dark lips always appear during autumn and Winter and match well with statement autumnal colours. Burgundy’s, berries and taupe lip shades combined with camel and beige clothing are perfect for the festive period.

SMOKEY EYES

GLITZY NAILS Hands may be hidden behind gloves during the colder months but that doesn’t mean we can’t spruce up our nails.

Nude shades with a splash of glitter work a treat. Use a foundation and base coat first to prepare your nails and then pick the nude shade you want to go for. Choose a glitter to layer on top and finish off with a topcoat for extra shine.

DARK SHADES

Winter is all about the autumnal feel, chocolate browns, jet-blacks and platinum reds are all set to make a statement this Christmas. If you’re feeling brave, transform your look.

Remember to use colour maintaining shampoo and conditioner after dying to ensure it doesn’t fade.

WARMERS If you want something different from a hat this winter then head warmers are a great alternative. The cosy faux fur headbands are right on trend and make a bold statement.

Mini Model Catch Up After the success of our last mini model search our mini models have been working with the likes of Warwick Davies, Helena Bonham Carter, Meryl Streep and Sacha Baron Cohen. From film sets to TV ads and print campaigns, these little super stars have been having so much fun.

Our last mini model search in association with top child model agency Bonnie & Betty saw winners Maia and Zidane receive a signing as part of their prize. Also signed to the books of the agency were a further selection of finalists including the fabulous Ryan.

With a new mini model search preparing to launch in the new year of 2015, we thought we should update you on the progress of a couple of our winners.

Our youngest ever winner, Maia has done exceptionally well. She has been cast for The Great Little Trading Company a whopping 4 times now! She also recently shot the photographic campaign for Nom Noms food brand.

Santa Shot What you need 1 part grenadine syrup 1 part green creme de menthe 1 part peppermint schnapps How to make it Pour grenadine to about 1/3 of your shot glass. Carefully layer the creme de menthe, then the peppermint schnapps.

Mulled wine cocktail

Snowball What you need 2 ½ measures advocaat ½ measure cognac ½ fresh lime Cold, sparkling lemonade Two cocktail cherries How to make it Try this twist on a classic Snowball which serves it as a short, creamytasting cocktail rather than as a fizzy tall drink with lemonade and ice. You can always add more lemonade for your second glass if you prefer.

Chill the lemonade well in the fridge.

Put a handful of ice into a cocktail shaker. Add the advocaat, cognac and juice from half a lime.

Shake well and strain straight into a martini glass or champagne bowl, before ice has chance to melt and dilute the mixture.

Add just enough cold lemonade to double the liquid in the glass.

Put cocktail cherries onto a cocktail stick and use this to stir the drink to mix in the lemonade and act as a festive berry looking garnish.

What you need 100g/4oz light muscovado sugar 1 cinnamon stick 4 cloves 150ml water 1 lemon 2 clementines 150ml Cointreau 750ml/ 1¼pint bottle light red wine Twist of orange zest and a star anise, to garnish

How to make it Add the sugar to a pan with 1 cinnamon stick, 4 cloves and 150ml water. Bring slowly to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

Simmer for 2 mins, then pour into a large container and leave to cool. Add 1 lemon and 2 clementines, both thinly sliced, to the mix along with 150ml Cointreau and a 750ml bottle light red wine, such as a Beaujolais. Stir well, then cover and chill for at least 2 hrs or overnight if you can.

Serve chilled or over ice, with a twist of orange zest and a star anise. Or to serve a traditional warm mulled wine, there’s no need to chill – simply warm through without boiling and serve in heatproof glasses.

Time marches on never ending. So I just blinked and 2014 disappeared. Time waits for no-one, does it? This year has been such a mixed bag for me. I've been faced with challenges I never expected; tested myself dealing with them and as a result, I'm feeling stronger than ever. Selfdetermination and belief are two vital survival qualities when otherwise faced with sink or swim.

For five years now I've had the privilege of writing for EM. Reading through my spreads I'm nostalgic for the life moments I've documented- my wedding, amazing photoshoots, my first pageant experience and visiting a orphanage in Thailand- but I'm drawn to my first entry because half a decade later the message is still relevant.

Every industry is filled with competitors- it's human instinct, I guess, to want bigger and better- but how we fight to survive, how we achieve our dreams says more about us than we realise. For example, people look at me strangely when I say, I've had my heart broken by women.

But once I explain how, it makes sense: My selfless replies to midnight Whatsapp breakdown, 'will-i-ever-make-it?' messages, the endless repetitive conversations of free advice, although admittedly reciprocated for a short while with, 'I love you Fay, you're the best!', are all part of the goodwill services I offer to those who get lost in this industry. But then our friendship ends and they disappear. Once they've taken my advice and got signed or their career picks up again, I'm basically

redundant and it's like I never existed. It's happened more times than I care to remember but luckily now my heart is 90% immune to it, and the other 10% can cope. The industry isn't quite as tolerant though- small fish, large pond springs to mind- one creative always knows another, and everyone talks! (What else are we meant to do when we're on location? Drink mojitoes?

[Well yes, we do that too.])

And a bad reputation sticks.

“Nobody gets anywhere in life by being a diva� mantra, otherwise translated to, never turn your back on those that believed in you from the start because those are the true friends, the people that cared when no-one else did.

Last month I had my own test of the above when an email landed in my inbox from the guy who introduced me to Alan Strutt, in short the guy who started my career. He had been made redundant and needed guidance and was asking for my help- some ten years ago the roles were

reversed and I was asking him. I had to forgive my initial human response of, 'I'll reply to this later'... Before putting aside what I was doing and getting back. It's a simple message here: every day I see egos developing and crashing, neither to any benefit?

Nobody gets anywhere in life by being a diva. On the surface maybe, but fundamentally with things that actually matter, a bad attitude is detrimental, for who really wants to be remembered negatively? When I look at those in the public-eye that are supposedly God-like, I remind myself of the same things- they all use a toilet.

They all cry. They all have bad times because nothing in life is perfect regardless of how materialistically fulfilled their life is. The only thing you can truly rely on in this World is each other. For when you're old and grey, what will you value more, that modelling photo from the job you coveted or a friend you made along the way?

So for 2015 do yourself a favour- drop a message to those that started you on your way. I guarantee, stopping by to show some love will make their day and benefit you in the long run!

In such a competitive industry casting directors usually work with several agencies to try and find that perfect model who not only has the look they’re after but also a high level of professionalism that will bring their product to life. With my experience in the modelling industry, knowing all about rushing from casting to casting, I would love to share my advice on preparing for them and making a lasting great first impression.

Our opinion of someone is formed within the first few moments of meeting them. This is especially true for casting directors who typically form quick judgements about models as they often have to meet several and can only spare a few minutes for each.

Therefore, you must do your best throughout the meeting.

You need to be friendly and confident but never arrogant.

If you are wearing sunglasses or a big hat, take them off when you are meeting the directors as you need to look approachable and less like a diva. Remember to put your phone on silent so your interview isn’t interrupted.

Speaking and acting in a confident manner will draw more attention to yourself. When you first meet the directors, greet and acknowledge everyone.

If you work abroad make sure that you are aware of

the cultural norms of the country you are working in.

It`s polite to shake hands in Britain, North American and Asian countries but often in Latin European and South American countries the norm is to kiss on the cheek especially if you have already met the person.

When I work abroad such as in South America, I remind myself that I should kiss the casting director and be more open and talkative to ensure I come across as friendly.

Always maintain good

posture and make eye contact with each casting director when you`re speaking.

Answer all their questions in a way that makes it seem as if you are really interested in what you are telling them to keep their full attention.

Before the casting, I like to prepare a few answers to questions which I will very likely be asked. It is impossible to know exactly what they will ask but they almost always ask where you are from and what kind of modelling work you`ve done.

Therefore, remind yourself beforehand of all the work you`ve done especially work that is similar to the job you are casting for as its good idea to bring that up during the interview. Preparing what you want to say will make you less nervous and speak less hesitantly.

Obtain as much information as you can on the brand and the casting itself. Researching the brand you are casting for is also a great way to prepare and ensure that you would like to work with that brand. Don’t be shy to ask questions to whoever is providing you with the casting details. If your agency or the brand itself sends you information which you find vague or do not fully understand, ask them to clarify so you can better prepare yourself.

reputation and image, such as a campaign for a lingerie brand that also had a sex products line and a music video requiring nudity and sensual movements.

This involved work that I was not comfortable with and products that I would not have liked to be associated with but because I researched the company and spoke with my agency beforehand, turning the casting down was not a problem at all. Remember 62

that you do not have to say yes to everything but you need to inform your agency as soon as possible if you are not interested.

Being organised is essential to keep on top of your schedule and in control of what the industry throws at you. Plan your day the night before. As soon as my agency sends me casting details, I write it in my agenda and the night before the casting I look up the address to plan my

journey especially when I`ve got a few to get to on the same day. When it’s a large casting they may not notice the time you arrive but you never know when they`re keeping an eye on the clock so always arrive early or on time. It would be a shame to make a bad impression before the casting directors have even had a chance to meet you.

There are a few model uniform essentials that will improve your model look and make those hectic days a lot easier. The only large accessory that you need to be wearing is a large, stylish yet discreet handbag as you need to take your portfolio, heels, a hair brush, make up to touch up, a mini umbrella just in case, a snack and water bottle. If you have them make sure you take several model cards to leave with the casting directors on your way out as it’ll be much easier for them to remember you when making their decision.

The pictures you present are extremely important as they will also speak for you.

Regardless of the type of model you are, your pictures must show versatility. You or your agency should choose just one or two pictures from each photo shoot to ensure that your portfolio

shows that you can work well with several different fashion and commercial styles and themes. This chameleon- like attribute will certainly intrigue.

You should show off your figure by wearing the right clothes. A general rule is to wear a tight fitted top, tight jeans or trousers and heels.

Avoid wearing flowy skirts and dresses which do not accentuate your figure and tops that are too tight and show too much cleavage as

they will not give the correct impression. However, you can adapt your casting outfit to the type of company and job you are casting for. For instance, if you are casting for body products, it may be a good idea to wear shorts to show off your legs.

Always wear a good set of underwear as they may ask you to remove your clothes.

This is especially common for swimwear, lingerie or beauty & health care castings. Wear simple yet flattering underwear which should be black, white or nude. Personally I feel that black or white underwear are a better choice than nude as they contrast more with your skin tone.

It is vital that you are well rested and full of energy on casting days. Ensure you get a good night’s sleep and try to get around eight hours sleep. If you`re not at all sleepy and its already late, try reading a book in bed as you will quickly feel more relaxed than if you were to watch TV. I often have castings on Saturdays so I sacrifice my Friday night out with friends to prepare for castings.

It is difficult to give up a fun night out but you won`t look fresh the next day. Sometimes you need to make sacrifices! After a great night`s sleep, you`ll not only feel renewed

the next day but you won`t get awful bags under your eyes which, even with make-up, are very hard to cover up. Before you set off, make sure you have a big breakfast including carbohydrates and fruits as a long day can be very draining and you might not have time to have a proper lunch. I get castings just about everywhere from the city centre to the outskirts so sometimes as soon as I finish one casting, I need to rush to make it to the other ones and often I only return home at night.

Wash your hair on the same day or the night before so it looks shiny and has a soft texture.

You should keep your hair down but you can choose how to style it in a laid back way. If you have long straight hair like me, you can leave it fully straight, make natural waves or just curl the ends. If your hair is very curly, keep it that way but just make sure it’s hydrated so that you have nice defined ringlets and not frizzy waves. If you have short hair, whether straight or curly, leave it as it is and simply style it. Make sure you are completely hairless, as you may need to strip down to your underwear, and your eyebrows are properly shaped. If you don’t know how to style your eyebrows just follow its natural line only plucking 64

Most importantly have a strong attitude and always be positive. Do not be dishearted if, despite having done great at the casting, you didn’t get the job as sometimes you simply did not have the specific look they were going for on that occasion. If you were friendly and professional they will remember you. The important thing is that you do your best and continue learning and improving from every experience. If this is your dream then fight for it because the only way you`ll fail is if you give up.

Being an EM Mag COLUMNIST

So let me introduce myself a little more and how my life has developed throughout my career.

I ‘fell’ into modelling quite late on, at the grand old age of 23. I had always wanted to be a model but I lived in a remote part of England which meant getting to castings and attending bookings was very difficult. My parents didn’t take me very seriously and thus were not available for assistance. So I ignored 66

my ‘want to be a model’ and concentrated on my education, studying business and media communications through college and university.

The older I got the more interested I became in the commercial aspect of modelling. I was now married with two children and thought my modelling days were well and truly over. Until...my friend entered me into a competition with New Look who were looking for a model to launch

their new plus size range.

Super surprisingly I was called by the model agency running the competition, 12 Plus model management, and they told me I hadn’t won the competition but they wanted me to go and see them with a view to being represented.

I was thrilled! Could this actually be the start of what I had always want and what so many had told me I should do?

I went along to the meeting and they decided to sign me

up. Within days I was on my first test shoot in London with photographer Simon Songhurst. I had so much fun, and received some amazing photos that I never dreamed could be me.

12 plus then arranged for my model card to be made up and I was off in the big bad world of plus modelling as a size 12 mum of two and an OLD 23 years! I attended castings, direct bookings, appeared on GMTV and This Morning on numerous occasions and thoroughly enjoyed my model life. My best booking whilst with 12 Plus was for an underwear packaging shoot with Marks and Spencer.

Seeing my face and body in underwear on hundreds of bras in Marks and Spencer was very amusing and quite surreal.

However the constant castings and bookings made it difficult at times for me with my two children as they were very small and needed my undivided attention. The life of a model is a hard one if you want to make it, requiring constant improvement, 100% dedication, no distractions and you to be fully committed to the job. The demand of my life took its toll and when I couldn’t attend castings or accept overseas work and I was soon dropped from the agency and rightly so.

It was my love to be a model but my children came first and so I decided I couldn’t commit and stopped modelling with a Every Model Magazine

view to maybe starting again when they were older.

Although I had stopped modelling I enjoyed the buzz and missed the thrills of the work, so I decided to set up an agency called Mi-Mo Management. I worked hard and long on contacting clients and finding models. I decided I would provide a full range of models from babies to the elderly on my books. I had many clients and started to get models booked on jobs. It was awesome and I loved it.

The agency did very well, it provided a good source of income for me and I was finally working in something I enjoyed doing, it is at this 68

time I met my now good friend Ruthie Deane of Every Model Magazine. I supplied models for her launch fashion show and our friendship bloomed from then.

Mi-Mo ran for a few years until the law decided to change. A new ruling came into force that all model agencies had to now register as a recruitment agency and have systems and data controls in place with a license. This was terrible news for me as I was on my own running everything, I had a great website and model portfolio space built by E-desk IT services in Hereford and now had to change everything to fit

in with the new laws.

I looked into it all and decided I couldn’t viably continue to run the agency and put all these changes into place. So the agency closed.

Now what would I do? I pondered a great deal on my next venture to keep me in the media world I loved and then it become obvious to me….a photographer! I could photograph the models or new models, aspiring models.

I had studied photography, it was my main hobby. So with another friend I set up Wilson White Photography. I’m now 38 years old and have found my passion! Photography is what I have always loved, and this is where I would like to concentrate my life long skills.

Moving into photography wasn’t easy, anyone can pick up a camera and start shooting. But to build the good name that I have today as a photographer has taken nine years of dedication, continuous training and learning new things. I started off shooting models in studios, models on location and then high fashion catwalks. The more work I covered the more I realised this is what I should have done from the start. I now shoot on average 30 weddings a year, I also cover pregnancy bumps, family and baby portraits and of course model portfolios and test shoots.

Now you would think photography is easy? Easier than modelling? Well you would be wrong. For every

shoot I do I come away feeling exhausted….like I have spent those last 5 hours in a gym!

You have to be on the ball, changing you camera as the weather or light changes

(when not in studio) and adapting to the environment and your clients, a crying baby a wedding that you can’t put on pause because your camera setting isn’t

right. It’s hard work. Then there are the hours of editing.

Today’s photographers are not only photographers but creative artists. Photoshop has revolutionised the marketing world and there are so many enhancements you can make to a photo or adaptions to create an amazing shot into a totally amazing piece of art.

So that’s me and my history in the modelling world. I still get booked for the odd model job too as I am now with the lovely RMG Models. Over the years I have been featured in many Christmas brochures, instore advertising, billboard and shop signage! I have been lucky to have my family involved with some shoots so all now three of my children have enjoyed the buzz as I have. You can still see me now as the main face of Premier Inn. I’m the blonde lady snoozing away in the corridors of the hotels or above the receptionist!
