Advantages of fluid couplings A fluid coupling or hydraulic coupling is a hydrodynamic device that is employed to convey mechanical power from one shaft to another by the means of acceleration and deceleration of hydraulic fluid. The mechanism of fluid coupling is based on hydro-kinetic principles and similarly, it requires less output speed than the input speed. The system consists of a driving impeller which is named a pump. This pump stays intact with the shaft to the rotational movement which delivers kinetic energy. There is a driven impeller present in the system called a turbine, it is connected with the output shaft which helps to induce rotational energy with the help of centrifugal force acting on the turbine. Advantages of fluid coupling There are certainly many benefits of fluid couplings some of them are: ● Due to the resisting torque, they are more stable hence during the power transmission it produces less or almost no vibration and noises. ● The stable acceleration of shafts helps in smooth power transmission even in extreme conditions. ● They efficiently control startup speed without shock loading of power.
