WHAT MAKES EVERGREEN TACOMA DIFFERENT?

The Evergreen State College Tacoma was established by Dr. Maxine Mimms, a Black woman educator who believed this unique education and curriculum would enhance the urban adult learner. Our campus is diverse with a dual language program that welcomes and accommodates English, Spanish and other first languages.

Evergreen Tacoma places an emphasis on decolonizing systems, local and global community building and liberatory mindsets that contribute to 21st century development.

Overall, Evergreen's Tacoma curriculum is a compact yet impactful liberal arts program that prioritizes building a strong community, offering flexible learning opportunities, and providing a convenient pathway to a bachelor's degree. Evergreen Tacoma prepares students for the current state of the world but also equips them with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-evolving future.

The curriculum is adaptable and accommodating, providing students with the flexibility to shape their academic journey based on their interests and goals. This customized approach ensures that each student's education is tailored to their individual needs and interests.

Masters of Public Administration

LYCEUM

Lyceum is an interdisciplinary course that brings together lectures, presentations, and group discussion on a particular theme. It provides an opportunity for students to engage in meaningful dialogue that connects the lecture to their own academic work. Through this process, the Lyceum helps foster a sense of community and celebrates diversity.

Lyceum takes place every Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. All are welcome.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Evergreen State College Tacoma is offering a unique opportunity for those interested in working with children. This hybrid program is offered during the evenings so you can get your bachelor's degree while you work. Dual language, virtual studies in both English and Spanish.

Join us in this new bi-lingual and culturally pertinent learning experience!

TRANSFERRING CREDITS

EVERGREEN ACCEPTS CREDITS THAT ARE:

• Academic or vocational

• 100 level or higher

• Passed with a 2.0 GPA or better

FROM A REGIONALLY ACCREDITED INSTITUTION

• Up to 90 lower-division academic* credits (level 100-299)

• Up to 45 upper-division academic* credits (level 300-499)

• Up to 15 technical/vocational credits

M aximum 135 credits

It’s no coincidence that Evergreen alumni flourish in the working world.

Nearly 9 in 10 Evergreen alumni are employed or pursuing professional studies within a year of graduation. Here are just a few of the many Greeners using their skills to change the world.

Korbett Mosesly ’11, MPA ’15 is now the Community Reinvestment Plan Managing Director for Washington State Department of Commerce. This is a pivotal initiative addressing systemic injustices in drug-related laws in Washington State.

Kiara Daniels '14 MPA '18

is a Tacoma City Council member and proud Tacoma, Washington native of the Central Hilltop neighborhood, where she is a longtime community advocate.

Carol Wolfe ’96

is now the Business Services and Workforce Partnerships Manager for the City of Tacoma. This division facilitates and coordinates City efforts for collaborative revitalization of neighborhoods, which includes small business development with a special focus on equity and inclusion. The division does this by offering programs that foster established and new relationships with community-based organizations.

Kwabi Amoah-Forson ’15

is a passionate Peace Humanitarian from Tacoma Washington supporting community home and abroad through local humanitarian aid efforts and Peace Education Programs on The Peace Bus.
