The Olowalu Plantation

House, built in 1922, is a cherished example of Hawaiian plantation-style architecture, designed with an open, breezy layout to suit the tropical climate.

Once the home of the plantation manager, it also served as a community gathering place. Nearby, the Olowalu Sugar Company, established in 1864, played a significant role in Hawai‘i’s sugar industry. The plantation, worked primarily by immigrants, spanned 700 acres and saw its final harvest in 1998.

Although the sugar mill, built in the 1870s, was dismantled in 1933, its ruins remain visible. Today, the lovingly preserved house stands as a historical treasure and popular event venue, offering a spacious lanai and sweeping oceanfront views that reflect the timeless beauty of Hawai‘i.

JETTY INFORMATION

Plantation House

The home is a four-room, two-bathroom, living room, and service kitchen area. The home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a service kitchen area, a front porch, and an ocean lawn Lana’i. There is also a detached bathroom suite for guests with two stalls for women and one stall and urinal for men, with a staircase and ramp for wheelchairs.

Inside the home, the wedding party Suite and second room are joined by a hallway with a bathroom. Both rooms have air conditioning. We block off this area so the wedding party can get ready.

The third room is also airconditioned, and it has a separate entry from the front, which we utilize for the second half of the wedding party. This allows the men to be airconditioned and access the front lawn and outdoor bathrooms.

The fourth room is not airconditioned but has ample room for the support crew that sits next to the front door. The home is used for getting ready and for the wedding party. All guests are asked to use the outside bathroom suites.

Snacks and beverages for getting ready can be stored in the kitchen or picked up from Leoda’s, the General Store, or the Pizza Truck.

Once the ceremony starts we lock the front doors for security reasons

Front Lawn - Mango Tree

One of my favorite hidden gems of the property. It’s perfect for when guests arrive stepping off the shuttles to an acoustic musician with a glass of champagne or signature cocktail as guests mingle and everyone arrives for the ceremony. Ocean front Lawn Ceremony Locations

The endless possibilities offered by this lawn feature a variety of venue styles and locations to suit every preference. We will explore both the most popular options and hidden gems for ceremony locations.

**Shaded Wailea Trees View**

This is the most shaded ceremony spot on the property, boasting views of the ocean lawn, jetty, and the East Maui Mountains.

Approximately 90% of guests will be in the shade.

**Mid Lawn with Full Ocean View**

Guests will enjoy a partial shade experience (with parasols or programs for coverage) while taking in a full ocean view just about 20 yards from the shoreline.

**Oceanfront Ceremony**

While there is no natural shade, guests can utilize parasols, umbrellas, or canopies for coverage.

**Pavers with Tree Backdrop**

Guests will be seated on pavers instead of the lawn, with a tree as the focal point, providing shade for comfort.

Jessica & Peter:

We loved absolutely everything about it. Truly an incredible venue and all of our guests were blown away by its beauty. The only thing I would critique is the noise ordinance that makes the events there stop at 10p. It would be amazing if they could extend and go until 10:30 or 11p. I know that probably isn't possible, but we could have absolutely kept the party going way later if the venue had allowed, and I would have LOVED to have been able to do that! You don't realize how little time you have until the last call is happening and you ' re like "wait how is the dancing almost over already??"

The difference between a full day and a half day is access to get ready or relax before guests arrive.

My favorite season is when the whales are jumping in the backdrop. Dec to April I’ve always had great weather, whether winter or summer.

A tent is only needed if you want one for your wedding design. If the weather calls for rain, we will secure a tent prior.
