One of the semester’s challenging yet rewarding project yet.
The brief was to find an advertising campaign of any local brand and make a redesign of it with completely new taglines and concept, while keeping in line with the brand image. I chose Wardah: UV Shield. A well-made TVC on its own, yet I wanted to make some adjustment in the overall look & style of the commercial.

After some background research on the product, looking up the 4ps gap, using digital strategy framework sheets, the pre-production planning begun.
Starting with story ideation process that went scrapped & developed, presented, entirely renewed again. All in all, very much a non-linear process.
Until finally, a single story, combined with several pre-existing advertisement references, the final shotlist, hence the fixed visual idea, for Your Light Protector is finally born!

It was then I started treating this more than simply an ‘assignment’.
Though the brief only asks a TV commercial, I wanted to expand the final output. A pre-launch campaign that asks of the intended consumer, have you worn your sunscreen yet?
Then the creation of the TV Commercial itself, complete with a bumper design at the end, and a billboard banner concept to tie its media output on physical, out-ofhome media.

// UI Design / UX Development

It came to me candidly, on an afternoon from the furniture retailers with my aunt. We were assembling a newly-bought hanger as I kept thinking back to the price tag I spent on it, which in an anak rantau’s book, was quite a lot.

I thought, what if there could be an alternative for this price tag disaster, while also promoting the slow-consuming behavior that are garnering more and more attention amongst today’s youth? Thus, the idea for SecondHand Goods was born.

There were a lot of eye-opening moments in this project. It was when I worked on this project did I start to understand depending only from classes & the limited resources I have around me wouldn’t cut it. So I thought to look up
past academic journal, case studies on user experience design, observe the flow and layout on pre-existing applications, in order to get a picture of the meticulous process within a user experience research and development.

After drafting the initial sketches of the homepage interface, I began developing what other visual elements needed in the UI system, including typeface, standardized card design, colors, iconography. I took the initiative to learn..
about the gutter & paddings used in existing apps such as Tokopedia & Pinterest, and found out the standardized 8pt grid system.

Motion Graphic
Jul-Aug 2022
a group motion graphic project my friends and I initiated and submitted for Sunhak Peace Prize 2022. We chose the topic of global food waste, following the ‘sustainability’ theme that year, as the five of us saw the same concern regarding this particular global catastrophe.
In the group, I was entrusted with brainstorming the storyboard from narration and developing them into vector-based visual assets to then be processed into a finished motion graphic work.

Drawn digitally on Procreate, then traced into basic shapes using Adobe Illustrator. The visual ideation & development process went smoothly, until the texturing process came up.
It had to be done by adding each strokes or dots or sprinkles one by one, customized by trying out each of the styles. This was an experience where I truly felt my patience in working out each frames were tested, not to mention the laggy unsupportive device I had to work with, having to handle up to 100mb .ai files

Social Media
Sep 2022-Jan 2023
a series of national & international big day campaign in several media formats, including video, illustration, carousel infographic, and motion graphic, created for BEM ITS’ social media platform.
These big day greetings, though a commonly seen publication for student association medias, were created in a way that tries to convey a message for the students and our youths as a whole.

This was one of the greetings campaign I had the chance to take charge of. It wasn’t inspired by anything grand, just a current TikTok trend at that time (Frank Ocean’s Pink & White). But I wanted it to be something that has a message, a simple one. The video opened with images of our national heroes,

transitioned into the youths of today, then closed with a small message “Bergerak menuju perubahan jadi giliranmu!”
It was a simple and approachable communication the youths of my generation to honor our founding fathers and national herores, continue their fight for what’s right by doing what’s ours.

Final Project
Campaign Oct 2023 - Aug 2024
You could always find me preferring to walk whether I am in Jakarta or during my short time abroad. So seeing the lack of ideal infrastructure, and sometimes, enthusiasm to walk in my surroundings, inspired me to use my experience in visual communication for this cause.
Understanding background and identifying the problem is a crucial first step in generating a correct solution for the topic.
This requires me to dig up academic article, interview experts and pre-existing campaign organization, reach out and have discussions with several alumni, and construct a questionnaire to understand the audience behavior and understanding relating to the topic.
From reference board. back-to-back consultations with thesis advisor, to exploration in visual, media output, and communication strategy. The design experiments was then brought up and discussed with practitioner and similar campaign organization to gather their insight and polish the proposed campaign draft.
To ensure a good reception for each of the strategy, this developed material is tested on sample audience through interviews.
