Evelyn Bohl Dialogue Essay “It’s funny how we meet again, isn’t it Professor?” “I was about to say the same Colonel. In the Billiard Room for a second time tonight I see?” “How dare you make such an accusation! You must be lost in your books. This is my first time in this room tonight.” “Now Colonel, we must not wake the house with your belligerent screaming. I was simply wondering..” “Hold on a second. Why are you in here? You don’t seem the type to play billiards, and especially at this hour?” “I…Uhh… Well I might say the same for you. This is nonsense and childish. I… Ahh!” “Great Scott! Where did he go? Professor?.... Who goes there?” “Oh my! Hello Colonel.” “Mrs. White, what are you doing up at this hour?” “I was… dusting. You know how Mr. Boddy is. He has to have his house as clean as a whistle.” “At this hour?..Ahem” “Excuse me Colonel. Did you say something? You know my hearing isn’t what it used to be.” “Oh I simply have a cough. You were mistaken. But why are you carrying around a candlestick?” “Oh dear, look at the time! Please excuse me Colonel.” “These blasted maids, always rushing! Whatever happened to order and regulations for Pete’s sake!” (Change in dialogue) “I think it was Professor Plum, with the candlestick, in the Billiard room.” “I can prove you wrong.” “Darn it! I knew it!” (Change in dialogue) What kind of practical joke is this? Why am I stuck in this lousy envelope every time?” ‘Oh put a lid on it professor! At least you are not being moved from room to room. I didn’t even get to go to the conservatory this time.” “I didn’t do it I swear! Blame the dealer! I’m being held against my will! Help!” “Oh shut up. You have been saying that for the past three games!”

“I was framed! It’s a hoax...” (Change in dialogue) “Yes! I knew it! Professor, you are caught! Guilty as charged!”

Notes to the reader: The night as I was writing this, my family and I were playing Clue. We all enjoy playing it and try to figure out each others cards by making obscene glances and remarks. Surrounding the kitchen table are my parents and my brothers and sisters. A competitive atmosphere unfolds, and it’s really funny. While we were playing, my younger sister, Elsa, started going off on one of her tangents on what would the characters in Clue would say if they had the ability to talk and accuse each other of Mr. Body’s murder. We all laughed and started a roll play of each others characters, and without me even realizing it I had my idea on what I was going to write about. This piece describes my family. Yes, it is only a conversation between fictional characters, but the meaning behind it shows how close my family is. We all love this game and enjoy playing it. Every time we all start playing it, we become crazy and start to laugh ridiculously. First my sister starts going off on a hilarious tangent, and then my little brother joins in and pretty soon everybody joins in. It may sound lame, but everyone has that certain time with their family that when something is hilarious everyone acts hilarious. Sometimes it is healthy and fun to just cut up with one another. I enjoy these moments a lot with my family. We will always remain close with one another and times like the other night are ones to remember.
